Protesters set up \u200can encampment, resulting in police detentions. Pro-Israel counter-protesters were also present. Demands included cutting ties with Israel and calls for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dc-crime-howard-university-tightens-security-protocols-after-mob-attack\/\" title=\"Howard University increases security measures following mob assault in DC.\">university\u200b president<\/a> to resign. The university warned of potential further arrests for unauthorized encampments. The pro-Palestine protest at Arizona State University&#8217;s Tempe campus resulted in arrests after protesters established an encampment. Police\u2062 detained them, while\u200d pro-Israel counter-protesters were in attendance. The demands encompassed \u200bsevering ties with Israel and urging the university president \u2064to step\u2063 down. There were some pro-Israel counter-protesters as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsrael is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">terrorist state<\/a>,\u201d protesters were shouting at one point, according to a video from ABC15.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported that the list of the protester\u2019s demands ranged from cutting any ties between Israel and the university to wanting President Michael Crow to step down.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the university explained that encampments not cleared could result in further arrests.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArizona State University Police arrested individuals for setting up an unauthorized encampment, in violation of university policy and the ABOR Student Code of Conduct,\u201d ASU said in a statement on Friday. \u201cEncampments and unlawful assembly are prohibited on Arizona State University property unless they are part of a university-sanctioned activity. Individuals found setting up unapproved encampments will be directed to dismantle them immediately and failure to comply may result in arrest. ASU is committed to maintaining a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-slam-biden-for-neglecting-nuclear-modernization\/\" title=\"Republicans Slam Biden for Neglecting Nuclear Modernization\">secure environment<\/a> for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The attack by Hamas on Israel on Oct. 7 sparked an all-out war between the two, which has even resulted in attempted military action from Iran against Israel. However, many have been critical of how the Israeli government has responded, ranging from saying the response in Gaza has been disproportionate to the attack to even accusing the Israelis of \u201cgenocide.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Center Square asked Gov. Katie Hobbs their thoughts on the protests. The office elaborated on her stance when it comes to the reported demands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernor Hobbs supports the right to free speech and peaceful protest. However, she strongly opposes any calls to boycott and divest from Israel, attacks on Israel\u2019s right to exist, demands to abolish the police, or rhetoric that supports or encourages violence. College campuses should remain safe for every student,\u201d Hobbs\u2019 spokesman, Christian Slater, told The Center Square in a message.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Governor has been in contact with university presidents and expressed the State\u2019s willingness to support them in ensuring a safe and secure campus environment,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Campuses around the country, including Columbia University in New York and the University of Southern California are facing encampment-style protests.
