These \u2063calculators, developed by Danish researchers, \u200danalyze various life factors to predict outcomes with\u200c 78% accuracy. The AI creators\u200b warn against copycat apps and \u2063emphasize the predictive potential beyond mortality, such as health and\u2063 financial\u2062 outcomes. Furthermore, the article touches on \u2064the\u200d implications of \u200bAI predictions on insurance, discrimination, and internet \u200breliability.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 27, 2024 at 2:40pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Once upon a time, anyone wondering how long they might live would look at their parents and other ancestors, guess whether all those terrible things in the news about this or that vice are really as deadly as they say, and come up with a number that was as good a guess as any.<\/p>\n<p>But in the 21st century, that\u2019s the job of technology, where what\u2019s called a \u201cDeath Calculator\u201d has been created by Danish researchers so that artificial intelligence can do all that guessing for us.<\/p>\n<p>And since this is the 21st century, and fooling the gullible online is the most common human impulse left before the robots do that for us as well, there are now copycat apps that have drawn the ire of the Danish folks at Life2vec, who spent years perfecting their AI gizmo, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/04\/27\/urgent-warning-anyone-using-scarily-accurate-ai-death-calculator-2-20724965\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Metro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scammers, they warn, \u201chave nothing to do with us and our work. So be careful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The researchers who came up with the rather morbid use for technology say that the data behind the real thing is not accessible through the internet and is stored at Statistics Denmark.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are aware of Life2vec social media accounts, and there is at least one fraudulent website. We are not affiliated with these or any other entities that claim to use our technology,\u201d the AI creators said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cdeath calculator\u201d is a data-driven model that throws all the variables of life into an algorithm that gets it right about 78 percent of the time, according to an Agence France-Presse report posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencealert.com\/this-new-ai-predicts-your-life-then-it-predicts-your-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Science Alert<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a very general framework for making predictions about human lives. It can predict anything where you have training data,\u201d Sune Lehmann, a professor at the Technical University of Denmark and one of the authors of a study about the algorithm said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt could predict health outcomes. So it could predict fertility or obesity, or you could maybe predict who will get cancer or who doesn\u2019t get cancer. But it could also predict if you\u2019re going to make a lot of money,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Would you ever use AI to \u201cpredict\u201d your death?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/big-tech-company-developing-artificial-intelligence-control-traffic-lights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">algorithm<\/a> is based on the process used to develop ChatGPT, but instead of words, its variables are things such as birth, education, social benefits or even work schedules.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom one perspective, lives are simply sequences of events: People are born, visit the pediatrician, start school, move to a new location, get married, and so on,\u201d Lehmann said, noting that the goal of the work is to \u201cexamine the evolution and predictability of human lives based on detailed event sequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look at early mortality. So we take a very young cohort between 35 and 65. Then we try to predict, based on an eight-year period from 2008 to 2016, if a person dies in the subsequent four years,\u201d Lehmann said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe model can do that really well, better than any other algorithm that we could find,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lehmann said the research is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/taylor-swift-comedy-legend-george-carlins-estate-ramping-war-artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not for sale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor now, it\u2019s a research project where we\u2019re exploring what\u2019s possible and what\u2019s not possible,\u201d Lehmann said, noting that the project is trying to explore how social connections impact life.<\/p>\n<p>Pernille Tranberg, a Danish data ethics expert, said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/woman-106-says-ready-go-lord-ready-shares-secret-old-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">insurance companies<\/a> make these calculations now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey probably put you into groups and say: \u2018OK, you have a chronic disease, the risk is this and this\u2019,\u201d Tranberg said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt can be used against us to discriminate us so that you will have to pay a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vaccines-schools-and-racist-insurance-fact-checking-bidens-town-hall-claims\/\" title=\"Vaccines, Schools And Racist Insurance: \u2018Fact-Checking\u2019 Biden\u2019s Town Hall Claims\">higher insurance premium<\/a>, or you can\u2019t get a loan from the bank, or you can\u2019t get public health care because you\u2019re going to die anyway,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Tranberg also offered the novel thought that people wandering the internet wondering about their lifespan might <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pic-appears-taken-inside-1980s-mcdonalds-sweeps-internet-someone-finally-spots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not always believe<\/a> what they find there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the web, we\u2019re already seeing prediction clocks, which show how old we\u2019re going to get,\u201d Tranberg said. \u201cSome of them aren\u2019t at all reliable.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
