This year, the prison sentence for violating the law was extended to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/israel-war-everything-we-know-about-the-americans-killed-and-captured-by-hamas\/\" title=\"Israel war: Americans killed and captured by Hamas - what we know\">include tourists<\/a>, who previously could pay a fine for the offense. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-washington-blm-alliance-begins-lobbying-state-legislature-demands-gov-inslee-declare-racism-a-public-health-crisis\/\" title=\"New \u2018Washington BLM Alliance\u2019 Begins Lobbying State Legislature, Demands Gov. Inslee Declare Racism A Public Health Crisis\">mandatory minimum sentence<\/a> is 12 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like, as a very honest mistake, that 12 years is absurd,\u201d Jeriann Wenrich, Tyler\u2019s wife, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy son\u2019s only 18 months old, and I just don\u2019t want to him to grow up without a dad,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Weinrich is not alone.<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Watson, 40, was arrested April 12 after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alaska-borough-urges-residents-get-ammo-arm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four bullets<\/a> were found in a carry-on bag.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI opened it up and kind of give it a little shimmy, didn\u2019t see anything, didn\u2019t hear anything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my mistake,\u201d Ryan Watson said. \u201cIt was very innocent. And I just pray that, compassion and consideration, because there was zero criminal intent.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Can the Biden administration be trusted to protect U.S. citizens overseas?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAt some point, [airport security] extracted a baggie that had four hunting bullets that I use for deer hunting. And I was just as surprised as anybody else that they made that discovery,\u201d Watson said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/americans-arrested-turks-caicos-face-12-years-prison-innocent-mistake\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t recall ever putting those bullets in that bag. I can make an assumption that I used that bag on weekend trips and I had \u2014 back in November \u2014 used that bag \u2026 for my deer-hunting trip in Texas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Watson said when he was told of the potential sentence, \u201cI thought that was an intimidation tactic at first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News estimated five other Americans face similar charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDouble check. Triple check. Quadruple check. Because \u2026 an innocent mistake like this now has \u2026 it\u2019s affecting a lot of families,\u201d Michael Wenrich, Tyler\u2019s father, said.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Third American arrested in Turks and Caicos for allegedly having ammunition\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Ja-kDHxu4Yk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Both men said they cleared <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/days-calling-abolish-tsa-sen-mike-lee-pulled-aside-going-airport-security\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TSA screening<\/a> in the U.S. before they left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had no intentions of ever bringing anything into this country. \u2026 It was just trying to pack board shorts and flip-flops, and that was all we were concerned about bringing,\u201d Watson, who is out on bail but cannot return until his June 7 trial, said. \u201cSo \u2026 it never dawned on us to research any of these things. And there are a lot of locals that have been just such a blessing and have had such gracious hearts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to CBS, the Turks and Caicos government said that it \u201creserves the right to enforce its legislation and all visitors must follow its law enforcement procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bs.usembassy.gov\/check-your-bags-do-not-bring-ammunition-firearms-to-the-turks-and-caicos-islands\/?_ga=2.20319416.1468971484.1714231711-320927436.1714231711\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Embassy to the Bahamas<\/a> has recently issued an advisory warning other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/18-year-old-dies-suddenly-playing-basketball-bahamas-authorities-want-autopsy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travelers<\/a> about the rules.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirearms, ammunition (including stray bullets), and other weapons are not permitted in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI). \u00a0TCI authorities\u00a0strictly enforce\u00a0all firearms-and-ammunition-related laws.\u00a0 The penalty for traveling to TCI with a firearm, ammunition, or other weapon can result in a\u00a0minimum custodial sentence of twelve (12) years,\u201d the advisory said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you bring a firearm or ammunition into TCI, even inadvertently, we will not be able to secure your release from custody.\u00a0\u00a0You are subject to TCI laws and must follow local law enforcement procedures,\u201d the advisory said.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
