Nebraska Republicans plan to shift to winner-takes-all voting \u2063to support Trump, while Maine Democrats are prepared to \u2062do the same for Biden. \u200cThe distinctive feature\u200b of \u2062split electoral votes in Maine and Nebraska\u2062 is based on\u200b congressional districts.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In an attempt to score former President Donald Trump one more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-real-clear-politics-say-they-never-called-pennsylvania\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Real Clear Politics -- SAY THEY NEVER CALLED PENNSYLVANIA\">electoral vote<\/a>, Nebraska Republican lawmakers are seeking to turn the state into a winner-take-all voting system, but Maine Democrats said if Nebraska does that, they would make the same move to help President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Maine and Nebraska are the only states that award their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nebraska-dems-look-to-turn-local-wins-into-split-electoral-college-vote-in-2024\/\" title=\"Nebraska Democrats aim to secure a split Electoral College vote in 2024 through local victories.\">electoral votes based<\/a> on which candidate wins in each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">congressional district<\/a>.\u00a0The move by Nebraska GOP lawmakers is an attempt to prevent Biden from earning an Electoral College vote by winning the state\u2019s Omaha district, which he did in 2020. If successful, this strategy would shut down Biden\u2019s easiest path to victory, entailing a win in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, and winning Nebraska\u2019s 2nd District. <\/p>\n<p>The bill has been stalled in the legislature, but it\u2019s prompted Maine Democrats to also pursue a winner-take-all system, thus losing Trump an electoral vote. <\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Maine\u2019s state House majority leader, Maureen Terry, said in a statement that Democrats, who hold a majority in the legislature, would \u201cbe compelled to act in order to restore fairness\u201d if Nebraska Republicans are successful with their measure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoters in Maine and voters in Maine\u2019s 2nd Congressional District value their independence, but they also value fairness and playing by the rules,\u201d Terry said. \u201cIf Nebraska\u2019s Republican governor and Republican-controlled Legislature were to change their electoral system this late in the cycle in order to unfairly award Donald Trump an additional electoral vote, I think the Maine Legislature would be compelled to act in order to restore fairness to our country\u2019s electoral system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nebraska Republican Gov.
