Katie Hobbs vetoed 1o bills passed by the Republican-controlled state legislature Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-drag-queens-trans-activists-coach-government-employees-on-trans-liberation-at-taxpayer-funded-event\/\" title=\"VIDEO: Taxpayer-Funded Event Trains Government Employees on 'Trans Liberation' with Drag Queens and Trans Activists.\">including bills aimed<\/a> at keeping non-residents of Arizona from voting in the state and prohibiting state funds from being invested in counties the U.S. Secretary of Commerce has labeled a \u201cforeign adversary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The vetoes brought Hobbs\u2019 total to 52 for this legislative sessions, the <a href=\"https:\/\/tucson.com\/news\/state-regional\/government-politics\/arizona-gov-katie-hobbs-vetoes-school-showers-biological-sex-squatters-voting-rights-retail-theft-more\/article_c75876ce-0199-11ef-8b06-57fe572eed05.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arizona Daily Star<\/a> noted.<\/p>\n<p>Radio station <a href=\"https:\/\/kjzz.org\/content\/1873115\/here-are-all-bills-arizona-gov-katie-hobbs-vetoed-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KJZZ<\/a>, which has been keeping a running tally of Hobbs\u2019 vetoes,\u00a0 said that Hobbs \u201cshattered\u201d the previous record for number of vetoes by a governor in 2023 and was \u201cshowing now signs of stopping\u201d this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHobbs, a Democrat, denies accusations that her office refuses to work with Republicans,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/attorney-lin-wood-under-investigation-over-whether-he-voted-illegally-in-2020-election-report\/\" title=\"Attorney Lin Wood Under Investigation Over Whether He Voted Illegally In 2020 Election: Report\">station reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve shown over and over again that I\u2019m willing to work with anyone on real solutions,\u201d she said, according to KJZZ. \u201cI ran on sanity versus chaos and I\u2019ve said over and over again that I\u2019ll work with anyone but I\u2019ll also be the backstop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The outlet added that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/republican-statewide-official-launches-new-hotline-katie-hobbs-going-absolutely-hate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hobbs<\/a> had categorized the 10 bills she vetoed this week as \u201cextreme.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the \u201cextreme\u201d measures she vetoed this week included a bill that attempted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-is-a-cult-how-wealthy-santa-barbara-foreshadowed-the-fight-against-crackpot-curriculum\/\" title=\"\u2018This Is A Cult\u2019: How Wealthy Santa Barbara Foreshadowed The Fight Against Crackpot Curriculum\">protect school children<\/a> from being forced to shower with individuals of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/teen-girl-swimmers-forced-compete-shower-male-professor-50-identifies-female\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposite gender<\/a> who claimed to identify otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is inappropriate for a 15-year-old female high school co-ed to have to stand next to a 20-year-old biological male who identifies as female in the same shower,\u201d Sen. John Kavanagh, the bill\u2019s Republican sponsor, said from the Senate floor during the vote.<\/p>\n<p>It was at least the third bill on the topic Kavanagh had sponsored over the last 10 years, according to the Daily Star. Hobbs vetoed his most recent previous attempt last year.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Donald Trump win Arizona in November?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cAs I have said time and time again, I will not sign legislation that attacks Arizonans,\u201d she said this time around.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. John Gillette crafted a bill that sought to define a resident of Arizona as anyone who was present in the state for at least 181 days and intended to remain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bill creates additional, unnecessary barriers for individuals registering to vote,\u201d Hobbs objected, according to the Daily Star.<\/p>\n<p>Hobbs also vetoed a bill designed to prevent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/rudy-giuliani-mark-meadows-16-others-indicted-arizona-behest-democratic-attorney-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arizona<\/a> from investing in companies headquartered in counties <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kim-jong-un-orders-north-korea-prepare-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">considered unfriendly<\/a> to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSB 1340 prohibiting the investment of public funds in any state-owned or company domiciled within a \u2018foreign adversary\u2019\u2019 as determined by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce under federal law. That includes China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia and Venezuelan politician Nicolas Maduro,\u201d the Daily Star reported. \u201cIt also would bar putting money into a bank that has a principal place of business in a foreign adversary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other bills she rejected would have made it easier for homeowners to eject squatters from their property, increased penalties for individuals convicted of \u201corganized retail theft,\u201d and allowed food trucks in residential areas when given permission by the property owners.<\/p>\n<p>While Republicans hold both houses of the state legislature with slim, two-vote majorities \u2014 16-14 in the Senate and 31-29 in the House \u2014 an override of any of the vetoes, which would require a two-thirds vote \u2014 is considered highly unlikely.<\/p>\n<p>Hobbs also signed 12 bills into law Tuesday, including one to form the Arizona-Ireland Trade Commission.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
