The narrative also draws parallels with Canada&#8217;s climate emergency \u2062declaration and its extreme legislative measures against fossil fuels.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For several years now, it\u2019s been clear that the Biden administration has been thinking about officially declaring a \u201cclimate emergency.\u201d Beginning on the day Biden took office, several politicians have floated the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brennancenter.org\/our-work\/analysis-opinion\/president-biden-shouldnt-declare-climate-change-national-emergency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">possibility<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  \u2014 and some have gone further than that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Democrats\u2019 leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, publicly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-biden-climate-emergency\/biden-should-declare-national-emergency-on-climate-schumer-idUSW1N2BC01P\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">called<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  on Biden to make the declaration within a week of his inauguration. And ever since then, there have been <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/07\/20\/climate-emergency-biden-consequences-00046885\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">articles<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/climate-change-emergency-biden.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">deep-dives<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  in various outlets, including Politico and The New York Times, suggesting that it\u2019d be a really good idea to essentially go to war with the weather.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of now, as his term winds down, Joe Biden has resisted all of these demands. Biden has said that he\u2019s \u201cpractically\u201d declared a climate emergency \u2014 signaling that he likes the idea \u2014 but he hasn\u2019t actually gone ahead and done it. Even so, the demands have kept coming for several years \u2014 which is a little odd, when you think about it. The definition of the word \u201cemergency\u201d is: \u201ca serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.\u201d The very fact that you have to deliberate for three years about whether something is an emergency would seem to indicate that it is not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So this is the most important point: There is not, in fact, a climate emergency \u2014 and everyone pushing this hysteria understands that very well. But they will never stop pretending this is an urgent crisis, because the moment they do that, they lose some measure of control over our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Biden administration\u2019s flirtation with this whole idea also tells you something else, which is that the White House sees an emergency climate declaration as a potential nuclear option to deploy when they get really desperate. And with pretty much every major poll showing Donald Trump leading Joe Biden, that desperation has understandably now set in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Right on cue, a climate emergency is now back on the agenda. According to Bloomberg, the White House is now seriously <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2024-04-17\/white-house-renews-internal-talks-on-invoking-climate-emergency?embedded-checkout=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">considering<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  the idea in the near future. CBS recently spoke to a Columbia climate professor about this. Watch:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So the administration, by declaring a climate emergency, would supposedly unlock massive new powers over the economy and especially the oil industry. Of course, the administration has already done everything it can to gut the energy sector in this country. They\u2019ve <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/01\/27\/biden-suspends-oil-and-gas-drilling-in-series-of.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">suspended<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  new oil and gas leases; they\u2019ve scrutinized and shut down many existing permits for the development of fossil fuels; and, just for good measure, they\u2019ve <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/16\/biden-oil-reserve-fuels-00121298#:~:text=Biden's%20administration%20sold%20off%20more,levels%20since%20the%20early%201980s.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">sold off<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  much of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, just to make sure we\u2019re as reliant as possible on foreign energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What Biden wants to do now is to adopt new powers to destroy the economy, which exceed the powers he\u2019s already employed. Specifically, these new emergency powers would potentially <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/article\/climate-change-emergency-biden.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">include<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  the ability to ban all crude oil exports, indefinitely. Right now, we export millions of barrels of oil per day, accounting for tens of billions of dollars in revenue. All of that could disappear overnight in the event of an emergency climate declaration. Additionally, the Biden administration would be able to kill all new oil and gas drilling on more than 10 million acres of federal waters. They\u2019d also be able to cut overseas investments in fossil fuels and greatly reduce imports and exports of fossil fuels.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/episode\/ep-1355-the-government-is-gearing-up-to-declare-a-climate-emergency-which-will-wipe-out-what-s-left-of-our-freedoms-member-exclusive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s according to various media publications that have looked into the emergency powers already. But the truth is, once it declares a national emergency, the federal government can pretty much do what it wants. The courts give the alleged \u201cexperts\u201d vast and completely undeserved deference. There are no guardrails in a national emergency. Everyone knows that after experiencing the COVID lockdowns (which, of course, were the pretext to the coming climate emergency). There were never any consequences for those lockdowns or mandates. There hasn\u2019t really been any reckoning with the destruction those policies wrought on our lives. There\u2019s been no accountability. Nobody even seems interested in talking about it. So now they\u2019re doing it again. And make no mistake: If they can force the entire country to stay at home because of a virus \u2014 including young people, who are at virtually no risk from that virus \u2014 then they can absolutely restrict every single one of your freedoms in the name of \u201csaving the climate.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But just in case you needed confirmation, you can always look north to our perennially embarrassing neighbors in Canada. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several years ago, Canada\u2019s government <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/5401586\/canada-national-climate-emergency\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">declared<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-buy-american-clean-energy-conundrum\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s \u2018Buy American\u2019 Clean Energy Conundrum\">national climate emergency<\/a>. And just to drive the point home, several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-cultural-change-coming-to-america\/\" title=\"Radical Cultural Change Coming to America?\">major cities<\/a> within Canada, including Vancouver, declared their own climate emergencies. At the time, the idea behind this emergency was to enable the Canadian government to take steps to reduce the country\u2019s carbon emissions \u2014 even though the entire country of Canada essentially emits zero carbon compared to the rest of the world. The whole country could commit mass suicide \u2014 which they\u2019re sort of in the process of doing \u2014 and it would have no impact on global carbon emissions. Even so, Canada enacted a bunch of carbon taxes that made life even more expensive for its citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s worth noting quickly \u2014 although I\u2019ve made this point many times before \u2014 that even if you buy into the idea that carbon causes climate change, there is nothing that the U.S. \u2014 much less Canada \u2014 can do about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As Zach Weinberg <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zachweinberg\/status\/1783320440531783719\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">pointed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  out this week, China and India comprise the vast majority of carbon emissions in the world. The U.S. accounts for less than 15% of carbon emissions, and we\u2019re falling fast. Canada is well under 2%. So the whole idea of taxing carbon to reduce emissions and save the planet was always a scam, even if you subscribe to the Left\u2019s theories on climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But it was never going to stop there. Again, once you declare an emergency, without any clear way to solve it, things will continue to escalate. Give the government vast, undefined powers, and rights will continue to erode until they\u2019re all gone. As Milton Friedman said, \u201cNothing is so permanent as a temporary government program.\u201d And Canada, once again, is a perfect example.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Earlier this year, in the name of saving the climate during this supposed emergency, Canadian legislators introduced a bill to suspend freedom of speech. Canada\u2019s NDP party \u2014 which is a key part of the coalition keeping Justin Trudeau\u2019s government in power \u2014 introduced legislation that would actually make it <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">illegal to speak positively about fossil fuels.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Yes. That\u2019s not an exaggeration. This legislation would make it illegal to express positive opinions about fossil fuels, in any context. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/opinion\/ndp-bill-jail-terms-fossil-fuels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canada\u2019s National Post<\/a> states:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">An NDP bill is seeking to criminalize the promotion of fossil fuels, and prescribe jail time even for Canadians who say scientifically true things \u2014 such as how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/laid-off-keystone-xl-workers-blast-bidens-lies\/\" title=\"Laid-Off Keystone XL Workers Blast Biden\u2019s Lies\">burning natural gas<\/a> is cleaner than burning coal. .. [the bill] goes well beyond merely banning advertising by oil and gas companies. \u2026 Violate this as a regular citizen, and the act prescribes summary conviction and a fine of up to $500,000. Violate it as an oil company, and the punishment could be as strict as two years in jail or a fine of $1,000,000.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Even after reading this article, I still couldn\u2019t believe it, so I pulled up the text of the bill. And the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/thevivafrei\/status\/1782543641979809850\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">text<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  of the bill indeed says that, <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is prohibited for a person to promote a fossil fuel or the production of a fossil fuel\u2026 (b)\u2002in a manner that states or suggests that a fossil fuel or the practices of a producer of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\">fossil fuel industry<\/a> would lead to positive outcomes in relation to the environment, the health of Canadians, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples or the Canadian or global economy.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So basically, private citizens who say anything good about fossil fuels can be fined $500,000, which is enough of a fine to completely bankrupt 95% of Canada\u2019s population for life. You can\u2019t even say the Indians would benefit from fossil fuels, even though many Indians in Canada would disagree with that statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To be clear, this is not one rogue politician introducing this bill. Canada\u2019s federal Minister of the Environment and Climate Change has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ca.news.yahoo.com\/ndp-calls-ban-misleading-deceptive-213156982.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  he \u201cwelcomes\u201d the bill. And various members of Canada\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-covid-19-impact-of-expressive-individualism\/\" title=\"The COVID-19 Impact Of Expressive Individualism\">public health establishment<\/a> have endorsed it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Take a look at this press conference from the NDP announcing this legislation. It\u2019s like something out of a satire film, but it\u2019s real. It\u2019s not overstating things to say this is the single most demented press conference to occur in the Western world in at least the last decade. At the very least, it\u2019s in the top 5. Here\u2019s just some of it:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Apparently, everyone knows their kids can\u2019t even go outside in Canada without choking on fossil fuels. That\u2019s the position of a member of Canada\u2019s parliament, who again, is trying to <em>put Canadians in prison \u2014 and bankrupt them \u2014 if they disagree with him.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I listened to that whole press conference, even though it was excruciating because they spoke in French for half of it. It was a half-hour of Canadian public health \u201cexperts\u201d and politicians saying that they\u2019re right, and everyone who disagrees with them needs to be jailed. Keep in mind, everyone promoting this legislation got every conceivable aspect of COVID wrong. But they have no shame, only a desire for more power. So they\u2019re back. Everything is a \u201cpublic health\u201d emergency now, even the weather.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The press conference concluded with a question-and-answer session with Canadian media, which was even more surreal, somehow. None of the journalists seemed outraged in any way by what they had just heard. Instead, they mostly asked procedural questions about when the bill might come up for a vote. In fact, one reporter even asked if Russia was helping the fossil fuel companies spread disinformation. If you want to lose all faith in Western democracy, I recommend you go to YouTube and pull up the footage from this press conference yourself. It\u2019s almost unbelievable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The point of talking about Canada isn\u2019t to suggest that we should care about Canada. That would be absurd. The whole country just <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/canadas-mass-graves-hoax-is-yet-another-fabricated-narrative-to-demonize-christians\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">pretended<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that sewage sites were burial grounds for children, in order to justify burning dozens of churches. This is not a serious or ethical place we\u2019re talking about. And the Canadian people have mostly given up on their country and on themselves, so good riddance. Let the country burn. This is what they want and they deserve to get it good and hard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">But Canada does have one purpose, which is to serve as a bellwether of what we can expect in this country if we get too complacent. If we allow Joe Biden to declare a \u201cclimate emergency,\u201d then he won\u2019t simply dismantle the energy sector in this country and destroy our economy. Give him a few years, and he\u2019ll throw you in prison if you complain about it. (Or at least, his successor will). Those are the stakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It\u2019s not worth going through how climate activists have lied for generations about the \u201cemergency\u201d \u2014 I\u2019ve <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Chqcyf0Y35g\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">done<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that many times before, as have many others. At this point, they know they\u2019re liars, which is why their ultimate goal is to silence you. That\u2019s why Joe Biden wants to declare his climate emergency.
