It\u2019s an homage to the storied video game franchise and little else, which is actually a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>The show looked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/even-amazons-disastrous-lord-rings-series-fallout-looks-promising\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promising<\/a> from the get-go and didn\u2019t disappoint after the entire season was released on April 10.<\/p>\n<p>(Though the decision to drop the entire season at once did stir some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/popular-new-show-sparks-fierce-fan-debate-shows-drop-weekly-episodes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">controversy<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>Given the raucous success of the show, it came as little surprise when a second season of the show was ordered.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">FALLOUT will be back for SEASON 2. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zQ7pJXz7V1\">pic.twitter.com\/zQ7pJXz7V1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Prime Video (@PrimeVideo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PrimeVideo\/status\/1781096721810084253?\">April 18, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While that news is exciting for fans, there is no release window whatsoever for that second season of \u201cFallout.\u201d So fans who were introduced to the franchise via the Amazon show have a potentially brutal wait ahead.<\/p>\n<p>If you are one of the people who fall into that category, here are some recommendations to fill that void from a longtime \u201cFallout\u201d fan:<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you played any of the \u201cFallout\u201d games?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>The \u201cRetro\u201d Era<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFallout 1\u201d and \u201cFallout 2\u201d deserve their own category simply for how different they are from the other games in the franchise. Whereas all \u201cFallout\u201d games can be classified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-metaverse-a-new-domain-of-warfare\/\" title=\"Is the Metaverse a New Domain of Warfare?\">role-playing games<\/a>, the first two are more old-school computer RPGs.<\/p>\n<p>If you really want to see the roots of this franchise, however, I can\u2019t really recommend the first game.<\/p>\n<p>Both games are brutal relics of the era they came out in (1997 and 1998, respectively) but \u201cFallout 2\u201d comes with certain key quality-of-life improvements that make it just a little more in tune with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/world-turns-to-china-in-moves-to-escape-dollar-dominance\/\" title=\"World Turns To China In Moves To Escape Dollar Dominance\">modern tastes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Oddball Games<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-is-the-villain-not-gluten\/\" title=\"This Is the Villain, Not Gluten\">\u2019ll readily admit<\/a> that despite being a big \u201cFallout\u201d fan, I haven\u2019t played too much out of the core numbered entries in the series. I couldn\u2019t begin to tell you about \u201cFallout: Tactics,\u201d for instance.<\/p>\n<p>Two offshoot games I have dabbled in, however, are the online multiplayer game \u201cFallout 76\u201d and \u201cFallout Shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latter game is a free-to-play game readily available on many platforms, including iOS, and this writer is almost ashamed to admit how many hours he\u2019s sunk into it.<\/p>\n<p>In short, \u201cFallout Shelter\u201d is a management sim game with light RPG elements, and it is positively addicting.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fallout Shelter - Announcement Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HY4jCjufLG8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFallout 76,\u201d meanwhile, had a rough start when it launched in 2018 but has rounded into form with continual updates and improvements to the game, as well as some meaty expansions.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re a fan of MMO-type games, \u201cFallout 76\u201d offers a great version of one and is almost a direct canonical prequel to \u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Modern Era<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFallout 3,\u201d \u201cFallout: New Vegas\u201d and \u201cFallout 4\u201d are a stark departure from the first two games and were many people\u2019s introduction to the series, myself included.<\/p>\n<p>Each entry has strengths and weaknesses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cFallout 3\u201d: This 2008 title was the rebirth of the franchise, leaving its CRPG roots for a more first-person, action-RPG flavor that takes place 30 years after \u201cFallout 2,\u201d canonically. It\u2019s a deep, huge RPG but is certainly a bit lacking compared to \u201cFallout 4\u201d and \u201cNew Vegas.\u201d Despite that, it\u2019s still a good game and a wonderful starting point for anyone new to the franchise (and if you\u2019re a fan of the show, the early storyline of \u201cFallout 3\u201d should be familiar). This game is most readily available on PC currently.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFallout: New Vegas\u201d: The 2010 follow-up to \u201cFallout 3\u201d is this writer\u2019s personal favorite and takes the game from Washington, D.C., to the Mojave Desert. The game offers more choice, more customization, more loot and slightly better gunplay. There\u2019s also a bit more of a revenge factor to the storyline, adding to it all. Fun fact: The late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lapd-concludes-investigation-death-friends-star-matthew-perry-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew Perry<\/a> voiced a key character in this game. This game is most readily available on PC currently.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cFallout 4\u201d: The highly anticipated 2015 entry easily features the best gameplay in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-considering-not-giving-trump-intelligence-briefings\/\" title=\"Biden Considering Not Giving Trump Intelligence Briefings\">modern era<\/a>. The robotic, stodgy movements of \u201cFallout 3\u201d and \u201cNew Vegas\u201d gave way to much more fluid movements that felt more in line with modern AAA shooters. However, in exchange for the fluid gameplay, \u201cFallout 4\u201d features far fewer choices and customization options than its direct predecessors. This game is available on modern home consoles and PCs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: The following trailer contains footage from an M-rated game and includes violent imagery the viewer may find disturbing.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Fallout 4 - Launch Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/X5aJfebzkrM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>So there you have it.
