I would have loved to have been there, but this judge would not allow it,\u201d Trump told reporters Thursday morning in New York while attacking Judge Juan Merchan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI should be there, but he wouldn\u2019t allow it to happen. (AP Photo\/Yuki Iwamura)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trump is in the midst of defending himself against 34 felony indictments from Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Alvin-Bragg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alvin Bragg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bragg alleges that Trump participated in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/defiant-trump-says-he-did-nothing-wrong-and-will-never-drop-out-of-2024-race-after-indictment\/\" title=\"Defiant Trump says he 'did nothing wrong' and will 'never' drop out of 2024 race after indictment\">hush money payment scheme<\/a> to porn star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Stormy-Daniels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Stormy Daniels<\/a> during the 2016 election.<\/p>\n<p>As the Supreme Court hears arguments over the immunity case, Trump will be in New York for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-big-problem-with-the-stormy-daniels-hush-money-case-against-trump\/\" title=\"The Big Problem With The Stormy Daniels Hush Money Case Against Trump\">hush money case<\/a> where former <em>National Enquirer<\/em> publisher David Pecker\u00a0will testify. Merchan denied Trump\u2019s request to travel to the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n<p>Special counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Jack-Smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jack Smith<\/a> indicted Trump last year over his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election, but Trump is attempting to invalidate the case by arguing his immune from prosecution as a former chief executive of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Trump continued to argue the case that immunity is his right as a former president before entering court. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the argument on immunity is very important. A president has to have immunity,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThis has nothing to do with me. This has to do with a president in the future for 100 years from now. If you don\u2019t have immunity, you\u2019re not going to do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re going to become a ceremonial president. It\u2019s just going to be doing nothing. You\u2019re not going to take any of the risks, both good and bad,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/New-York\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>New York<\/a> case has curtailed Trump\u2019s ability to hit the campaign stump as he is legally required to spend four out of five work days in court. Wednesday is the only exception Trump has to travel.<\/p>\n<p>James D. And that\u2019s why the stock market\u2019s down so big today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Economists expected GDP growth to increase by 2.5% during the first quarter.
