TikTok is set to challenge the bill on First Amendment grounds.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPoliticians may say otherwise, but don\u2019t get confused: Many who sponsored the bill admit a TikTok ban is their ultimate goal,\u201d Chew said in the video. \u201cThe facts and the Constitution are on our side, and we expect to prevail again.<\/p>\n<p>The House passed the <a href=\"https:\/\/selectcommitteeontheccp.house.gov\/media\/bills\/bill-protect-americans-foreign-adversary-controlled-applications-including-tiktok\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>bill<\/a> to push <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bytedance.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>ByteDance<\/a> to divest from TikTok within six months or face the app being banned in the United States. Lawmakers ultimately\u00a0updated the bill to give ByteDance more time to divest from TikTok and more senators got on board.<\/p>\n<p>When Trump was in the White House, he issued executive orders to try to force ByteDance\u2019s hand to sell TikTok, but ultimately, those orders were blocked by legal challenges. Trump\u2019s presidential campaign has not joined TikTok.
