Scott Perry<\/a> (R-PA) has shifted in Democrats\u2019 favor after the Pennsylvania primary elections on Tuesday, spelling trouble for the former Freedom Caucus Chairman as he seeks reelection in a seat heavily coveted by the opposing party. <\/p>\n<p>After Democratic candidate Janelle Stelson\u2019s victory on Tuesday, the University of Virginia Center of Politics\u2019s <em>Crystal Ball Ratings <\/em>shifted the race from being rated as Likely Republican to Lean Republican, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>making it slightly more favorable to Democrats<\/a> in November. The matchup comes as Democratic groups have increasingly poured funds into the district, signaling the group considers the race a pickup opportunity as they seek to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2971640\/republicans-house-2024-despite-dysfunction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>seize the House majority<\/a> next year. <\/p>\n<p>With such a narrow divide in the House, both Republicans and Democrats are pinpointing vulnerable seats to be flipped in their favor \u2014 with several of those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2975024\/pining-pennsylvania-republicans-battle-susan-wild-house-seat\/\">running through the battleground state of Pennsylvania<\/a>. Democrats have particularly targeted Perry\u2019s seat, seeking to attack him over his defense of former President Donald Trump\u2019s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. <\/p>\n<p>To be sure, Perry will be tough to beat. Pennsylvania\u2019s 10th District is rated as R+4, and Perry has the support of his GOP colleagues in the House. <\/p>\n<p>However, the Freedom Caucus member must grapple with some fundraising vulnerabilities that have stagnated over the last few months due to a lawsuit Perry has filed against the federal government. That lawsuit challenges the Justice Department after it seized Perry\u2019s phone in relation to special counsel Jack Smith\u2019s investigation into Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-deranged-sounding-georgia-grand-jury-foreman-throws-election-case-against-trump-into-legal-jeopardy\/\" title=\"WATCH: Deranged-Sounding Georgia Grand Jury Foreman Throws Election Case Against Trump Into Legal Jeopardy\">election interference case<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Perry managed to raise $500,000 during the first quarter of this year, besting Stelson\u2019s haul of nearly $294,000. However, Perry\u2019s cash on hand has sat still at around $500,000 over the last several quarters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politicspa.com\/pa-10-obrien-has-highest-q1-fundraising-total-stelson-has-most-in-hand\/133750\/\">giving Stelson an opportunity<\/a> to catch up now that she no longer has to compete with primary challengers for Democratic fundraising. <\/p>\n<p>The race rating shift to \u201cLean Republican\u201d is consistent with other election forecasters, including the nonpartisan <em>Cook Political Report. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All 435 House seats are up for grabs in 2024 as Republicans seek to hold their slim majority in the lower chamber. Of these, 42 are considered competitive, with most held by Democrats, giving the GOP a slight possible advantage as it prepares for the current election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>However, 17 of the 42 are held by Republicans in districts that voted for President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> in 2020, compared to five Democrats who must defend their seats in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-barone-a-house-popular-vote-majority-produced-few-seats-but-is-a-good-sign-for-republicans-in-2024\/\" title=\"Michael Barone: A House Popular Vote Majority Produced Few Seats but Is a Good Sign For Republicans in 2024\">districts carried<\/a> by former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a>.
