Ted Cruz\u2019s (R-TX) father during the 2016 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>David Pecker made the remarks on Tuesday while testifying at former President Donald Trump\u2019s trial in Manhattan criminal court when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/national-enquirer-ted-cruz-father-rafael-lee-harvey-oswald-rcna149027\">asked<\/a> by prosecutors about the origin of the story.<\/p>\n<p>The tabloid ran a story in April 2016 where it fabricated a photograph of Cruz\u2019s father, Rafael Cruz, with Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated President John F. Kennedy, that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/forced-vax-had-no-effect-on-jab-uptake-in-austrian-capital-claim\/\" title=\"Forced Vax had \u2018No Effect\u2019 On Jab Uptake in Austrian Capital - Claim\">publication claimed<\/a> was taken three months prior to the November 1963 shooting.<\/p>\n<p>NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/national-enquirer-ted-cruz-father-rafael-lee-harvey-oswald-rcna149027\">reported<\/a> that Pecker said that the publication\u2019s then-editor-in-chief and \u201cresearch department got involved\u201d and \u201cfaked the photo that was the foundation for the story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe mashed the photos and the different picture with Lee Harvey Oswald,\u201d Pecker said. \u201cAnd mashed the two together. And that\u2019s how that story was prepared \u2014 created I would say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pecker said that former Trump fixer Michael Cohen would orchestrate planting negative stories in the publication to help Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMichael Cohen would call me and say, \u2018We would like you to run a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/come-hell-or-high-water-desantis-promises-to-fight-for-people-as-biden-limits-treatments-to-state\/\" title=\"\u2018Come Hell Or High Water\u2019: DeSantis Promises To Fight For People As Biden Limits Treatments To State\">negative article<\/a> on a certain\u2019 \u2014 let\u2019s say for argument sake \u2014 on Ted Cruz then he \u2014 Michael Cohen \u2014 would send me information about Ted Cruz or Ben Carson or Marco Rubio, and that was the basis of our story and then we would embellish it from there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/letter-shows-false-claims-made-to-investigators-about-michael-cohens-130000-hush-money-payment-to-stormy-daniels-report\">pled guilty<\/a> in 2018 to several charges in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/federal-court-is-fast-tracking-sidney-powells-request-for-a-forensic-exam-of-dominion-voting-machines\/\" title=\"Federal Court Is Fast-Tracking Sidney Powell\u2019s Request For A Forensic Exam Of Dominion Voting Machines\">federal court<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-sdny\/pr\/michael-cohen-pleads-guilty-manhattan-federal-court-eight-counts-including-criminal-tax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">campaign finance violations related to the payment to Daniels<\/a>.
