Its\u2064 captivating narratives and endearing characters resonate with viewers\u2063 of\u2062 all ages, ensuring \u2064lasting appeal.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/entertainment\/\">  Entertainment <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/%20\"><span>Bryan Chai<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 23, 2024 at 2:42pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Few shows have enjoyed the wild success of the Australian children\u2019s cartoon \u201cBluey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/black-lives-matter-faces-backlash-after-posting-twerk-video-celebrating-mlk\/\" title=\"Black Lives Matter Faces Backlash After Posting Twerk Video Celebrating MLK\">series focuses<\/a> on an anthropomorphic family of dogs and the eponymous Bluey, who is the eldest daughter of the family.<\/p>\n<p>Bluey\u2019s family includes Bingo, her little sister, Chilli, her mom, and Bandit, her father, and the series generally focuses on at least one of them in a given episode.<\/p>\n<p>The show, while clearly aimed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tapper-to-bidens-cdc-head-on-schools-youre-demanding-things-were-never-going-to-be-able-to-achieve\/\" title=\"Tapper To Biden\u2019s CDC Head On Schools: You\u2019re Demanding Things \u2018We\u2019re Never Going To Be Able To Achieve\u2019\">younger children<\/a>, has been a hit with adults and parents as well due to the show\u2019s humor and subject matter (one episode deftly tackles the somber topic of infertility, for example).<\/p>\n<p>The show hasn\u2019t been without some controversy (critiques have widely ranged from complaints that Bandit is too <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nyt-slams-popular-kids-show-dad-positive-role-model\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">good of a father<\/a>, to the mention of off-screen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bluey-introduces-first-lgbt-characters-subtle-moment-might-missed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lesbian mothers<\/a>) but has largely maintained a positive approval rating throughout its existence.<\/p>\n<p>Given all of that, it should come as little surprise that when \u201cBluey\u201d announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mark-calendars-bluey-fans-beloved-childrens-cartoon-getting-longest-episode-yet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">longest episode yet<\/a> \u2014 clocking in at a robust 28 minutes in length, compared to the typical eight \u2014 fans\u2019 collective interest was piqued.<\/p>\n<p>The episode dropped on April 14 to uproarious approval, but even the show\u2019s creator, Joe Brumm, couldn\u2019t have been expecting some of the gaudy viewership numbers that \u201cThe Sign\u201d episode garnered.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/bluey-the-sign-ratings-disney-plus-1235879242\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, \u201cThe Sign\u201d generated 10.4 million worldwide views worldwide on Disney Plus in the week following its debut.<\/p>\n<p>Those 10.4 million views equate to a whopping 291.2 million minutes of viewership.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you have any kids or grandkids in your life who are \u201cBluey\u201d fans?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>Full spoilers for \u201cBluey\u201d to follow: <\/strong><\/em>\u201cThe Sign,\u201d while weaving multiple plotlines from the series throughout, spends a good chunk of its 28-minute runtime observing the struggles of the Heeler family as they grapple with a big move out of their home and city (the family lives in Brisbane, Australia) after Bandit gets a new job. \u201cThe Sign\u201d is a reference to the \u201cFor Sale\u201d sign placed in front of the Heeler home.<\/p>\n<p>The episode ends on a somewhat ambiguous note, making it unclear if the Heeler family would leave Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>That cliffhanger ending sparked all manner of speculation about the future of the series, which has always been unclear because of Brumm\u2019s refusal to discuss it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe BBC has asked for me never to talk about the kids\u2019 voices or the future of Bluey,\u201d Brumm told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/bluey-creator-disney-notes-peppa-ping-inspiration-1235508845\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">THR<\/a> in June 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Compounding matters? A week after \u201cThe Sign\u201d came out, a surprise episode of \u201cBluey\u201d came out, fittingly called \u201cSurprise,\u201d that felt an <em>awful <\/em>lot like a proper epilogue to the series.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Surprise! \ud83c\udfbe EXTRA Brand New - Season 3 | Bluey\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/g_smGC89hKk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurprise\u201d was the standard 8-minute episode exploring some of the immediate aftermath of \u201cThe Sign,\u201d but saved a rather big reveal for the end.<\/p>\n<p>The episode ends with a flash-forward, showing a much older Heeler family (still living in the same house, of course) sans Bingo.<\/p>\n<p>You do meet, however, an elderly Bandit and Chilli, an adult Bluey\u2026 and what appears to be Bluey\u2019s young child.<\/p>\n<p>If that doesn\u2019t feel like a proper bow on the series, nothing will.<\/p>\n<p>For those who grew up with cartoon families like the Simpsons, Jetsons or Flinstones, that little glimpse of the future may not mean a whole lot.<\/p>\n<p>But fans of \u201cBluey\u201d know that, unlike many of its cartoon family peers, the Australian show actually observes the passage of time.
