Johnathan Jones reported this on April 23, 2024, at 10:13 am.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/johnathanjones\/%20\"><span>Johnathan Jones<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 23, 2024 at 10:13am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The city of Baltimore is suing two companies who they say failed to properly staff and maintain the container ship that knocked into and collapsed the Francis Scott Key Bridge last month.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/multiple-bridges-across-us-river-closed-26-barges-go-dead-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The bridge<\/a> came down on March 26 when the ill-fated, Singapore-based MV Dali left Baltimore Harbor and struck one of the structure\u2019s support piers.<\/p>\n<p>Four people were confirmed dead while a month later the bodies of two men presumed killed in the incident have yet to be recovered.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.mdd.556480\/gov.uscourts.mdd.556480.17.0_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a lawsuit<\/a> filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the mayor\u2019s office and the city council sued two companies that they said were responsible for the bridge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/investigators-764-tons-hazardous-material-involved-baltimore-bridge-disaster-spilled-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">collapse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Dali\u2019s owner, Synergy Marine Pte Ltd, and its operator, Grace Ocean Pte. Ltd, are both based in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Each company was listed as a respondent in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-railroad-settles-civil-suit-in-2014-death-of-film-worker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">civil suit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-caught-telling-tall-tale-past-collapsed-baltimore-bridge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The city<\/a> alleged in the 16-page filing that the companies were negligent at the very least and acted in a manner that was potentially \u201ccriminal\u201d in the days leading up to the disaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of this should have happened,\u201d the city said of the incident.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should the owners and operators of the Dali be held liable?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The lawsuit continued, \u201cReporting has indicated that, even before leaving port, alarms showing an inconsistent power supply on the Dali had sounded. The Dali left port anyway, despite its clearly unseaworthy condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/investigators-looking-whether-problem-ships-fuel-supply-led-baltimore-bridge-disaster-report-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The ship<\/a> had reportedly suffered electric and fuel issues in the moments before the collision.<\/p>\n<p>Also in the lawsuit, the city noted that the weather conditions on the morning of the incident were calm and that other ships had traveled under the bridge without incident for decades.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were no high winds, visual obstructions, or any reason to believe disaster was about to occur when, at 12:45 a.m., local time, on March 26, 2024, the container ship Dali left its dock in the Port of Baltimore, and began sailing toward the Chesapeake Bay,\u201d the suit said.<\/p>\n<p>After noting the bridge was in place for five decades without experiencing such a catastrophic incident, the suit added there was \u201cnothing about March 26, 2024, that should have changed that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Petitioners, Grace Ocean Private Limited and Synergy Marine Pte Ltd saw fit to put a clearly unseaworthy vessel into the water,\u201d the city claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Citing alleged failures in the \u201cmaintenance and repairs\u201d of the vessel, elected officials in Baltimore attributed the deadly disaster to \u201ccarelessness, negligence, gross negligence, and recklessness, and as a result of the unseaworthiness of the Vessel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The city also accused both companies that were responsible for ensuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/investigators-looking-whether-problem-ships-fuel-supply-led-baltimore-bridge-disaster-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the MV Dali<\/a> operated safely and within industry standards also staffed the ship with an \u201cincompetent crew.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit said the companies\u2019 \u201cactions were grossly and potentially criminally negligent. In no way should their liability be limited.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The city of Baltimore is seeking to recoup economic losses, payment for the damages incurred during the collision, legal costs, and unspecified punitive damages \u2014 claiming the loss of the bridge harmed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/baltimore-bridge-collapse-even-devastating-seems-economic-nuke-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the city and region economically<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Baltimore is suing the two companies they say are responsible for the Key Bridge collapse, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-opens-criminal-investigation-baltimore-bridge-collapse-boards-ship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the FBI<\/a> announced last week that it had opened up a criminal investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
