Lake \u2064cited the \u2062Arizona Supreme Court&#8217;s acknowledgment of the law but criticized the state&#8217;s reluctance to uphold it. Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake \u2063has wavered\u200c on her position regarding Arizona&#8217;s enduring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/march-for-life-charts-course-for-biden-administration\/\" title=\"March for Life Charts Course for Biden Administration\">abortion ban<\/a>. In \u2062an interview with the \u200dIdaho\u200c Dispatch, she lamented the lack of enforcement of the stringent abortion law in the state. \u200dLake noted the Arizona Supreme\u200c Court&#8217;s recognition of the law but disapproved of the state&#8217;s hesitance to implement it.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arizona<\/a> Senate candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kari-lake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kari Lake<\/a> has an opinion on her state\u2019s Civil War-era <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-and-environment\/2975627\/arizona-democrats-focus-on-water-rural-areas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">abortion ban<\/a>. However, her public opinion has morphed several times recently.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/idahodispatch.com\/kari-lake-visits-idaho-responds-to-idaho-chooses-life-criticism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>interview<\/a> with the <em>Idaho Dispatch<\/em> on Saturday, Lake said the state\u2019s abortion law, which bans nearly all abortions, will \u201cunfortunately\u201d not be enforced, seemingly changing her previous negative statements on the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Arizona Supreme Court said this is the law of Arizona,\u201d Lake said. \u201cBut unfortunately, the people running our state have said we\u2019re not going to enforce it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t have that law, as much as many of us wish we did,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Lake\u2019s statement came in response to a question about how she would like to respond to a press release from the anti-abortion organization Idaho Chooses Life in which it condemned her previous disapproval of the ban.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cImagine our profound disappointment, then, when we saw this heroine join the media mob in calling for an immediate \u2018fix\u2019 to Arizona\u2019s historic law protecting preborn children,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>On April 11, Lake tweeted a roughly 5 1\/2-minute-long video discussing her thoughts on abortion, and in it, she condemned the Arizona Supreme Court\u2019s decision to enforce the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis total ban on abortion that the Arizona Supreme Court just ruled on is out of line with where the people of this state are,\u201d she said in the video.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>The next day, she reposted her video with a screenshot showing former President Donald Trump\u2019s disapproval of the Arizona Supreme Court\u2019s ruling, as he called it an \u201cinappropriate\u201d law.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>If Lake is supporting the ban, it wouldn\u2019t be a new stance for her. Lake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/10\/us\/politics\/kari-lake-abortion-arizona.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>called<\/a> the ban a \u201cgreat law\u201d when she ran for governor in 2022.
