This is the largest leap so far in empowering a coalition opposed to the right ordinary Americans have to their speech and their work.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2023\/10\/30\/fact-sheet-president-biden-issues-executive-order-on-safe-secure-and-trustworthy-artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biden AI executive order<\/a> signed last October, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.gov\/news\/press-releases\/2024\/04\/us-commerce-secretary-gina-raimondo-announces-expansion-us-ai-safety\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanded<\/a> its \u201cAI Safety Institute,\u201d notably naming Paul Christiano as head of AI safety. Christiano, a leader of \u201cEffective Altruism\u201d \u2014 the movement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/news\/annals-of-inquiry\/sam-bankman-fried-effective-altruism-and-the-question-of-complicity\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">popularized<\/a> by Sam Bankman-Fried \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/the-ai-doomers-have-infiltrated-washington\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">believes<\/a> in a \u201c50\/50\u201d chance AI causes the extinction of all of humanity. This marks the latest in the broader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/13\/open-philanthropy-funding-ai-policy-00121362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infiltration<\/a> of hardcore Effective Altruism ideologues into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-gov-ron-desantis-delivers-on-promise-bans-vaccine-passports-with-executive-order\/\" title=\"Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Delivers On Promise, Bans \u2018Vaccine Passports\u2019 With Executive Order\">executive agencies<\/a> and the offices of elected officials, threatening to impose restrictions on the majority of Americans that range from harsh to dystopian.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1290322329\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a7c5da788b48a081fd388d85bb51184a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a7c5da788b48a081fd388d85bb51184a\"><\/div>\n<p>The NIST appointment follows <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/teddyschleifer\/status\/1780244091793478128\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reporting<\/a> on direct pay for play, in which Effective Altruism mega-donor Dustin Moskowitz, co-founder of Facebook, met with Joe Biden after spending over $50 million on electing him. Dustin and his wife, Cari Tuna, are the primary funders of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openphilanthropy.org\/about\/team\/dustin-moskovitz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Open Philanthropy<\/a>, an Effective Altruism-linked nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/10\/13\/open-philanthropy-funding-ai-policy-00121362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spending<\/a> hundreds of millions of dollars lobbying for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/murthy-v-missouri-is-about-not-only-coercing-big-tech-but-controlling-individuals\/\" title=\"Murthy v. Missouri: Regulating Big Tech and Individuals\">unprecedented government control<\/a> over the AI industry.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the Open Philanthropy-funded \u201cCenter for AI Policy\u201d published <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aipolicy.us\/work\/model-legislation-release-april-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-backs-republican-covid-19-package-after-mcconnell-rejects-bipartisan-proposal\/\" title=\"Trump backs Republican COVID-19 package after McConnell rejects bipartisan proposal\">draft legislation<\/a><\/a> including the creation of a new \u201cFrontier Artificial Intelligence Systems Administration\u201d with the unitary ability to declare a \u201cstate of emergency\u201d and, among other broad powers:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>(4) seize, sequester, or encrypt model weights used or designed or intended for use in frontier AI systems;<\/p>\n<p>(5) issue a restraining order that prevents specified persons from using, accessing, or physically approaching specified frontier AI systems or hardware;<\/p>\n<p>(6) issue a general moratorium on the use or development of frontier AI<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>These authoritarian powers are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fromthenew.world\/p\/no-one-disagrees-that-ai-safety-requires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the natural<\/a> conclusion of an ideology that believes centralized control over AI is mandatory to prevent the extinction of humanity. While this draft legislation is unlikely to pass, Open Philanthropy-funded organizations are working to impose it by fiat by creating a pipeline into the Biden administration for Effective Altruists such as Christiano.<\/p>\n<p>An immediate facet of the Biden EO is the crippling of the necessary improvements governments must make to keep pace with the private sector\u2019s improvement with AI. Per <a href=\"https:\/\/substack.com\/@matthewmittelsteadt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Matthew Mittelsteadt<\/a>,\u00a0research fellow at the Mercatus Center: <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cda187e105176ba856329c00edda1ad5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cda187e105176ba856329c00edda1ad5\"><\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>At a high level, these new restrictions represent a potential catastrophe for public sector AI diffusion. By going all in on AI safety rules the administration is failing to consider budgetary and administrative realities and, as a result, is risking slamming the breaks on federal AI all together.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Effective Altruists play a crucial role in bringing together a coalition of leftist issues groups within the Biden administration, each attempting to seize power over AI for their own interests. The practical effect of this campaign is to enable the unprecedented political censorship of AI, as demonstrated by <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/28\/disastrous-gemini-roll-out-exposes-leftist-rot-permeating-all-of-google\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Google Gemini<\/a>. As I <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fromthenew.world\/Thou-Shalt-Not-Censor-thought\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">write<\/a> in response to the Biden EO-directed National Telecommunications and Information Administration\u2019s \u201cAI Accountability\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntia.doc.gov\/issues\/artificial-intelligence\/ai-accountability-policy-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>Legitimate concerns about speech such as threats, impersonation, fraud, or classified information are historically directed towards interpersonal communications. \u2026 The internal\/external distinction is crucial because of attempts to censor AI in the name of \u201csafety\u201d. Rather than keeping to this narrow tradition of government intervention, the NTIA report on AI Accountability, directed by the Biden EO, takes aim \u201cacross the AI lifecycle and value chain.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In early 2024, Google published a <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.googleapis.com\/deepmind-media\/gemini\/gemini_1_report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">paper<\/a> documenting the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fromthenew.world\/p\/google-geminis-woke-catechism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">intentional<\/a> fine-tuning used to create Gemini\u2019s far-left, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/turned-government-funded-racism-into-an-art-biden-creates-army-of-equity-bureaucrats-across-the-federal-government-with-latest-executive-order\/\" title=\"\u2018Turned Government-Funded Racism Into An Art\u2019: Biden Creates Army Of Equity Bureaucrats Across The Federal Government With Latest Executive Order\">anti-white ideology<\/a>. In it, Google authors reference the Biden executive order as \u201coutlining\u201d the standards used to construct the \u201cResponsible AI\u201d team that did this. Even without official legislation, the informal pressure exerted by a captured executive branch threatens the efficacy and neutrality of AI technologies.<\/p>\n<p>All it takes for highly organized, well-funded extremists to win and impose unprecedented levels of control and censorship is for the majority of people to do nothing. Artificial intelligence is the civil liberties, political fairness, and economic growth issue of the decade, if not the century. These extremists threaten the civil liberties of every American and the shared prosperity of our future.
