Notably, hashtags such \u2063as #grossoutfitforwork and #ootd are gaining traction on \u2062Douyin, the Chinese version of \u200dTikTok.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Communist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/china\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>China\u2019s<\/a> younger workers are rebelling against what they say are low-paying <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/business\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>employers<\/a> with \u201cgross\u201d work attire as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/social-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>viral<\/a> \u201cget ready with me\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/protests\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>protest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The youth are coming to work in slippers, pajamas, and sweatpants as part of the protest and showing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fashion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"their outfits\">their outfits<\/a> off online, <a href=\"https:\/\/amp.cnn.com\/cnn\/2024\/04\/21\/style\/china-youth-gross-work-outfit-trend-intl-hnk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according<\/a> to a report.<\/p>\n<p>Hashtags such as #grossoutfitforwork, #ootd [outfit of the day], and #uglyclothesshouldbeforwork are among the popular searches on the Chinese version of Tiktok, Douyin. <\/p>\n<p>#Grossoutfitforwork has garnered millions of views and launched thousands of new posts and discussions on the social media platform Weibo, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-pelosi-allowed-recently-covid-positive-rep-onto-house-floor-to-vote-for-her\/\" title=\"Report: Pelosi allowed recently COVID-positive rep. onto House floor to vote for her\">report noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One series of posts on Douyin shows a young woman, identified as Kendou S, detailing how her employer scolded her for her outfit, which consists of a gray balaclava, red gloves, a puffer coat, a pink quilted jacket, plaid pajama bottoms, furry slippers, and a fluffy hat, among other mismatching items.<\/p>\n<p>Her post was shared over 1.4 million times, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy coworker says I dress like a wild man,\u201d another woman posted while showing off knee-length shorts and a neon yellow jacket. \u201cMy boss gave me 50 yuan to wash my clothes, and I was forbidden to shake hands with clients ever again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEarning such little salary, with ugly coworkers, what else do you expect from my outfit?\u201d another protester wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The sentiment behind the protest appears to stem from the \u201ctang pang\u201d or \u201clying flat\u201d philosophy, which encourages followers to rebel against the rat race of the Chinese job market, where workers between the ages of 16 and 24 faced a 14.9% jobless rate in December, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re kind of like, why bother when your work and future life prospect is not looking that bright,\u201d 29-year-old Bohan Qiu, the founder of a Seoul- and Shanghai-based consultancy firm for fashion brands, said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore, they saw [working] as chasing a dream \u2026 and [companies] motivated everyone to fight for the [economic] pie,\u201d Qiu said. \u201cNow people are, like, \u2018No, that doesn\u2019t exist, or it could be a lie.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Casual wear isn\u2019t new to the Chinese workplace, according to Qiu, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/book-review-proof-that-wokeness-is-projection-by-nervous-racist-white-women-who-cant-talk-to-minorities-without-elaborate-codes\/\" title=\"BOOK REVIEW: Proof That Wokeness Is Projection By Nervous, Racist White Women Who Can\u2019t Talk To Minorities Without Elaborate Codes\">working long hours<\/a> in front of a computer for little pay during the COVID-19 pandemic made it even more of a norm.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Young workers in Communist China are protesting low wages and unsatisfactory work attire by participating in a viral &#8220;get ready with me&#8221; protest.
