Recent polls \u2062show\u200c substantial disapproval, contrasting the Democratic Party&#8217;s stance of unrestricted abortion. This disparity highlights\u2062 the challenge for Republicans \u2063to \u2062leverage public opinion against the Democratic\u2063 position.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/washingtonstand\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/washingtonstand\/%20\"><span>Washington Stand<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 22, 2024 at 9:33am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>As the Biden administration accelerates their strategy of promoting abortion as their go-to issue ahead of the November elections, a new poll confirmed the results of numerous previous polls, showing that a supermajority of American voters oppose abortion after the third month of pregnancy \u2014 a view that is not in line with the Democratic Party\u2019s public position of unrestricted abortion.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rasmussenreports.com\/public_content\/politics\/biden_administration\/66_of_voters_oppose_late_term_abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rasmussen Reports<\/a> released the results of a poll revealing that 66 percent of American voters are opposed to late-term abortions beyond 12 weeks. These latest numbers are largely similar to polling results from <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/1576\/abortion.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the last 20 years<\/a>, which show anywhere from 55 to 71 percent of Americans opposing second trimester abortions and 70 to 86 percent opposing third trimester abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Democratic lawmakers in recent years have\u00a0consistently refused to say\u00a0if they would place any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/az-supreme-court-rules-pre-roe-abortion-ban-back-effect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">limits on abortion<\/a>, even up to the moment of birth.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vjpJwoX5JmY?si=nnVRoAHE26aQckW-\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The current <a href=\"https:\/\/democrats.org\/where-we-stand\/party-platform\/achieving-universal-affordable-quality-health-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democratic Party platform<\/a> makes no reference to placing any limits on the procedure, going so far as to say that the party would work to overturn any and all pro-life protections enacted by duly elected state lawmakers, as well as any federal protections: \u201cDemocrats oppose and will fight to overturn federal and state laws that create barriers to reproductive health and rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The platform goes on to state that Democrats would force taxpayers to pay for abortions by \u201crepeal[ing] the Hyde Amendment,\u201d a position that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/marist-poll-60-percent-of-americans-oppose-taxpayer-funding-of-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opposed by 60 percent<\/a> of Americans.<\/p>\n<p>The platform further declares that Democrats will sweep away all state pro-life protections by \u201ccodify[ing] the right to reproductive freedom\u201d in federal law, which the party has <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/they-are-the-party-of-death-house-democrats-pass-bills-expanding-abortion-until-birth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">already attempted to do<\/a> with the \u201cWomen\u2019s Health Protection Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Democratic Party\u2019s unwillingness to show any moderation on abortion, <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/biden-launches-proabortion-ad-campaign-in-arizona-while-republicans-scramble-to-respond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republicans<\/a> in recent months have\u00a0struggled to find their footing\u00a0on how to message on the issue and have often not taken advantage of the contrast between public opinion on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-circuit-breaker-on-election-night\/\" title=\"The question looms: just how does it come to be that three quarters of Republican and nearly one third of Democrat voters all believe that the election was stolen from Trump?\">late-term abortion<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-america-praying-pro-lifers-may-face-prison-time-pro-abortion-fire-bomber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democratic position<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Former Republican National Committee Chair <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonstand.com\/news\/rnc-chair-tells-republicans-we-can-win-on-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ronna McDaniel<\/a> has urged GOPers to point out the Democrats\u2019 extremism in recent months. \u201cWe are the pro-life, pro-woman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-gop-finally-putting-its-money-where-its-mouth-is-with-pro-family-policy\/\" title=\"Is The GOP Finally Putting Its Money Where Its Mouth Is With Pro-Family Policy?\">pro-family party<\/a>, and we can win on abortion,\u201d she said. \u201cBut that means putting Democrats on the defense and forcing them to own their own extreme positions.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should abortion limits be left up to the states?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/senate-republican-campaign-chief-to-2024-candidates-dont-run-away-from-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Daines<\/a> voiced similar sentiments, pushing candidates to \u201cnot run away from the issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In comments to The Washington Stand, Director of Family Research Council Action Matt Carpenter contended that the Democratic Party is engaging in a money-centric strategy to overcome the discrepancy between their abortion extremism and public opinion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross the nation, pro-abortion groups are pushing for ballot measures which would amend state constitutions to allow abortion through all stages of pregnancy, on the taxpayer dime,\u201d he observed. \u201cLiberal dark money groups are pouring campaign cash into these efforts, and Democrat political operatives are licking their chops at the thought of a super-charged pro-abortion turnout at the polls. Forgetting for a moment that poll after poll shows voters are concerned mostly about the cost-of-living crisis, rising crime, and the daily invasion at the southern border, the reality is voters are not supportive of second and third trimester abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, Carpenter went on to acknowledge that pro-life Republicans face challenges in educating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/2020-biden-won-2-key-states-115k-now-lost-364k-voters-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voters<\/a> on abortion ahead of November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the pro-abortion side relies on a phalanx of pundits repeating their euphemisms, the pro-life movement has their work cut out for them to educate voters as to the extreme nature of these measures, which would prevent states from protecting unborn children from abortion in the second and third trimesters,\u201d Carpenter said.<\/p>\n<p>Mary Szoch, director of the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council, also acknowledged the challenges in the current political climate but encouraged GOP candidates to be unafraid of making plain the Democratic Party\u2019s position on abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe tragedy of only 66 percent of voters opposing late-term abortion points to the prevalence of the culture of death,\u201d Szoch told The Washington Stand. \u201cIt demonstrates that our culture has become one that values people based on what they can do or accomplish as opposed to the fact that each person is a son or daughter of God. We have a lot of work to do building a culture of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Szoch concluded, \u201cThat said \u2014 66 percent of voters is a majority of Americans who agree that killing an unborn child after viability is a grave evil.
