This abrupt decision, disclosed just \u200ddays\u200c before the event, stirred\u200b controversy and caused apprehension within the USC community.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Less than one week after canceling the student valedictorian\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cornell-rejects-push-for-trigger-warnings-in-classrooms\/\" title=\"Cornell Rejects Push for Trigger Warnings in Classrooms\">planned commencement speech<\/a>, the administration at University of Southern California (USC) announced that they would also be rescinding invitations to all outside speakers who were scheduled to be a part of the ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.provost.usc.edu\/important-update-on-2024-commencement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-candace-owens-announces-her-new-daily-wire-talk-show\/\" title=\"WATCH: Candace Owens Announces Her New Daily Wire Talk Show\">initial announcement<\/a><\/a> was made via an April 15th letter posted by the Office of the Provost on the school\u2019s website, which said that student valedictorian Asna Tabassum\u2019s speech was being canceled in the interest of public safety.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the commencement ceremonies were likely to draw a crowd of more than 60,000, Provost Andrew Guzman raised concerns about law enforcement\u2019s ability to keep everyone safe if tensions were to be inflamed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past several days, discussion relating to the selection of our valedictorian has taken on an alarming tenor. The intensity of feelings, fueled by both social media and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, has grown to include many voices outside of USC and has escalated to the point of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/usc-cuts-all-commencement-speakers-on-heels-of-canceling-pro-palestinian-valedictorians-speech\/\" title=\"USC cancels all commencement speakers after pro-Palestinian valedictorian's speech is axed\">creating substantial risks relating<\/a> to security and disruption at commencement. We cannot ignore the fact that similar risks have led to harassment and even violence at other campuses,\u201d Guzman wrote, noting that evaluation of social media had not been a part of the initial selection process.<\/p>\n<p>Protests erupted on campus demanding that the school allow her to speak, and within days, a <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/usc-cancels-commencement-speakers-after-canceled-valedictorian-speech\/story?id=109444698\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">follow-up announcement<\/a> stated that all outside speakers \u2014 including alumnus and \u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d director Jon Chu and tennis legend Billie Jean King \u2014 would also be removed from the program.<\/p>\n<p>A Friday memo, according to ABC News, explained the decision: \u201cTo keep the focus on our graduates, we are redesigning the commencement program.
