Set \u2064to release in 2024, &#8220;Kingdom Come: Deliverance II&#8221; aims to\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-heads-off-bridge-collapse-scrutiny-with-trip-to-baltimore\/\" title=\"Biden diverts attention from bridge collapse investigation with visit to Baltimore\">address previous criticisms<\/a> while offering an enhanced \u200dgaming experience across various \u200cplatforms.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/entertainment\/\">  Entertainment <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Video Game That Was Attacked for Only Featuring White People Gets Sequel Announcement<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/%20\"><span>Bryan Chai<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   April 21, 2024 at 12:15pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The year of 2018 was an absolute heavyweight for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-best-video-game-of-2024-so-far-was-made-by-one-guy-and-is-all-about-illegal-poker-hands\/\" title=\"The top video game of 2024 to date was created by a single developer and revolves around illicit poker hands\">video game releases<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It saw the release of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/4-tales-conservatives-can-get-behind-found-video-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Dead Redemption 2<\/a>,\u201d the new \u201cGod of War,\u201d and \u201cMarvel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tobey-maguire-spider-man-4-works-director-sam-raimi-pumps-brakes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spider-Man<\/a>\u201d \u2014 three of the best games ever made, period.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, an upstart game made by relatively unknown Czech developer Warhorse Studios was actually able to snatch some of the spotlight from those heavyweight debuts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt3414510\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kingdom Come: Deliverance<\/a>,\u201d which came out in February 2018 and is Warhorse Studios\u2019 only published game, is far from perfect, but it\u2019s a highly beloved game.<\/p>\n<p>It also came in for some of the kind of criticism that comes so easily in the woke years of the 21st century \u2014 namely, that its characters were entirely white \u2014 and now its makers have come out with a sequel that will at least address that.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: The following trailer contains scenes of violence and occasional graphic language that some viewers may find disturbing.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Official Announce Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wMZFM6JC47Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The sequel looks bigger and better than the original game, but the 2018 title was no slouch either, despite its flaws.<\/p>\n<p>The controls in \u201cKingdom Come: Deliverance\u201d are a bit clunky, the interface isn\u2019t intuitive (even the simple act of saving the game can be a chore), and the difficulty spikes in the game can be unwieldy.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Does the \u201cKingdom Come\u201d experience sound appealing to you?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But, boy howdy, did that first game have soul and charm.<\/p>\n<p>Your character, Henry of Skalitz, is a blank slate for your preferred playstyle, and the endless suite of options hooked gamers who could overlook some of those aforementioned warts.<\/p>\n<p>There were also a number of interlocking systems and mechanics that helped \u201cKingdom Come\u201d stand out from things that gamers had taken for granted, like the ability to read.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, Henry begins the game illiterate, and any in-game text will look garbled to you until Henry learns how to read.<\/p>\n<p>Even basic hygiene, a concept certainly explored in other games, played an outsized role in \u201cKingdom Come\u201d and how the world would respond to Henry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKingdom Come\u201d is a flawed but brilliant gem, in this writer\u2019s opinion at least, and that should\u2019ve been the start and stop of the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>But of course, people looking for things to complain about found it: Apparently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/2\/2\/16964080\/kingdom-come-deliverance-history-rpg-ps4-xbox-pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this video game<\/a> set in 1403 in the Kingdom of Bohemia (modern-day Czech Republic) did not feature enough people of color.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s one such example of hand-wringing (they\u2019re not hard to find) from Eurogamer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/kingdom-come-deliverance-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 review<\/a> of the game:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut there\u2019s also a big problem,\u201d the self-identified white author of the article wrote. \u201cThere are no people of colour in the game beyond people from the Cuman tribe, a Turkic people from the Eurasian Steppe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe question is, should there be?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Oh boy.<\/p>\n<p>Warhorse creative director Daniel Vavra addressed this line of thinking in a 2015 post on the platform then known as Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/a_man_in_black?\">@a_man_in_black<\/a> would you please explain to me whats racist about telling the truth? There were no black people in medieval Bohemia. Period.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Daniel V\u00e1vra \u2694 (@DanielVavra) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DanielVavra\/status\/569686445344079872?\">February 23, 2015<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201c[W]ould you please to me whats racist about telling the truth?\u201d Vavra posted. \u201cThere were no black people in medieval Bohemia. Period.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That response was not good enough for the likes of the Eurogamer writer, who tracked down \u201ca historian\u201d to rebut that argument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know of African kings in Constantinople on pilgrimage to Spain; we know of black Moors in Spain; we know of extensive travel of Jews from the courts of Cordoba and Damascus; we also know of black people in large cities in Germany,\u201d the historian told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Noting that the historic location of \u201cKingdom Come\u201d occupied a spot on the Silk Road, the historian further added a random outlier example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou just can\u2019t know nobody got sick and stayed a longer time,\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cWhat if a group of black Africans came through and stayed at an inn and someone got pregnant? Even one night is enough for a pregnancy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Look, this writer is humble enough to admit that he doesn\u2019t know nearly enough about 15th-century medieval European history to say whether Vavra or the \u201chistorian\u201d are more correct. (A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/KotakuInAction\/comments\/80740y\/sean_mark_miller_eurogamers_historian_cited_in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reddit post<\/a> from 2018 on the topic might be illuminating, depending on whom you believe.)<\/p>\n<p>But this writer is also smart enough to ask: Who cares?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKingdom Come\u201d is the property of Warhorse Studios, and it can very well do what it pleases with the franchise. Sorry, it\u2019s just not offensive to depict a sliver of society in 15th-century Europe as exclusively white.<\/p>\n<p>But the criticism apparently had some effect.<\/p>\n<p>Warhorse Studios appears set to diversify the sequel a tad, though its historic explanation appears to pass the smell test.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe story and plot of [Kingdom Come: Deliverance] has evolved \u2014 it\u2019s darker, deeper, and more cinematic, yet also crueler with pivotal decisions and plot twists that challenge the players\u2019s conscience. Nevertheless, it retains its humor and down-to-earth approach,\u201d Warhorse Studios representative Tobias Stolz-Zwilling told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ign.com\/articles\/warhorse-studios-kingdom-come-deliverance-ii-interview?cx_testId=4&#038;cx_testVariant=cx_1&#038;cx_artPos=1&#038;cx_experienceId=EXHKSUV8Y60C&#038;cx_experienceActionId=showRecommendationsPW8U8117BRZA17#cxrecs_s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs mentioned already, Henry is embarking on a journey from the countryside and local quarrels to a relatively cosmopolitan city that is besieged and occupied by the invading king.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNaturally, in a place like this, people can expect a wide range of ethnicities and different characters that Henry will meet on his journey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Get ready for the complaints that those characters aren\u2019t nearly enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKingdom Come: Deliverance II\u201d is expected to release in 2024, and is slated to release on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
