The announcement comes weeks after the Arizona Supreme Court upheld an 1864 abortion law in the state which bans the practice unless a mother faces immediate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-lifts-restriction-on-remote-prescriptions-of-abortion-drugs\/\" title=\"FDA Lifts Restriction on Remote Prescriptions of Abortion Drugs\">life-threatening conditions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s office confirmed to the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that Newsom has been working with several groups to \u201cquickly and effectively respond\u201d to the looming reenactment of the 1864 law in Arizona. THEY DIED?\u201d \u2013 Governor Cuomo Proves He\u2019s as Heartless as He is Reckless with NY Lives (VIDEO)\">governor told<\/a> the <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/arizona-attorney-general-california-safe-haven-abortion-rcna147496\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> NBC News earlier this month that she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2964325\/arizona-attorney-general-floats-california-abortion-safe-haven\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">exploring<\/a> her options, including having the Golden State be a safe haven for abortion providers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI totally understand the fear that doctors, pharmacists, and nurses are having right now in the face of the knowledge that we are barreling toward the potential implementation of this 1864 ban,\u201d Mayes told the outlet. \u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019m working with other states on avenues for potentially having them go to those states to practice medicine in the near term. One of my visions is that potentially we could have a safe haven in California for our doctors, nurses, and abortion providers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The governor\u2019s office said they are responding to Mayes\u2019s call for abortion providers in Arizona to be protected as the 1864 law is set to go back into effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArizona AG Kris Mayes identified a need to expedite the ability for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Arizona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Arizona<\/a> abortion providers to continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/north-carolina-senate-sends-bill-banning-abortions-based-on-down-syndrome-sex-race-to-governors-desk\/\" title=\"North Carolina Senate Sends Bill Banning Abortions Based On Down Syndrome, Sex, Race, To Governor\u2019s Desk\">provide care<\/a> to Arizonans as a way to support patients in their state seeking abortion care in California. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, which overruled <em>Roe v.
