And then he also blocked a road crucial to operating a copper and zinc mine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou said this is \u2018suicidal\u2019 and \u2018lawless,&#8217;\u201d Brennan noted. \u201cThose are strong words.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan responded: \u201cWell, it\u2019s lawless. He doesn\u2019t have the authority to do it. And I could go into all the laws that support me on that. It\u2019s, as I say, national security suicide. You may have seen Senator Blumenthal and I put a \u2013 sent a letter to the president on Friday, saying you need to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut he has no problem sanctioning Alaska,\u201d he said. \u201cThis administration has issued 63 executive orders and executive actions singularly focused on Alaska to shut our state down. Now, that, of course, hurts my constituents. But, Margaret, the national resources, energy, critical minerals, that\u2019s an American strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis should concern all kinds of Americans,\u201d he continued. \u201cI will mention one final thing that I really wanted to highlight here. You know, I have been in the Senate nine years. She wouldn\u2019t meet with them. This is a rule that focuses on their land where they\u2019ve been living for thousands of years. And then the president says, well, I did it because the indigenous people of Alaska wanted it.
