Trump faces 34 felony charges related \u2063to concealing\u2064 payments, with \u2064the\u2062 trial proceeding and opening statements set \u2063for Monday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Disgraced lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/msnbc-interviews-convicted-felon-michael-avenatti-from-prison-about-trump-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michael Avenatti<\/a> said he is willing to testify as part of the hush-money trial in New York against former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> that involves his former client, adult film star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/stormy-daniels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stormy Daniels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/04\/20\/us-news\/michael-avenatti-says-hes-in-conversations-with-trump-legal-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> on Saturday that Avenatti spoke with the outlet by phone from the Los Angeles federal prison where he is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-cdca\/pr\/lawyer-michael-avenatti-sentenced-14-years-federal-prison-stealing-millions-dollars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">serving more than a decade<\/a> behind bars for crimes that include extortion, fraud, and embezzlement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe defense has contacted me,\u201d Avenatti said, adding, \u201cI\u2019d be more than happy to testify; I don\u2019t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump\u2019s defense for the better part of the year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though the report said that Avenatti refused to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-rules-texas-pornography-age-verification-law-unconstitutional\/\" title=\"Texas pornography age verification law deemed unconstitutional by judge.\">divulge specific details<\/a> about conversations with Trump\u2019s team, it noted that a source close to Trump affirmed that ongoing discussions were taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Trump faces 34 felony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-indicted-on-34-felony-counts-of-conspiracy-falsifying-business-records-pleads-not-guilty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">counts<\/a> of falsifying business records to allegedly cover up payments in a bid to conceal damaging information as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/manhattanda.org\/district-attorney-bragg-announces-34-count-felony-indictment-of-former-president-donald-j-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201ccatch-and-kill\u201d<\/a> scheme to influence the 2016 election. He has pleaded not guilty and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-blasts-hush-money-case-ahead-of-jury-selection-attack-on-america\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticized<\/a> what he says is a \u201cpolitical persecution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/alvin-bragg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Bragg<\/a>, who is leading the case, <a href=\"https:\/\/manhattanda.org\/district-attorney-bragg-announces-34-count-felony-indictment-of-former-president-donald-j-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">refers to Daniels<\/a> as receiving one such payment of $130,000 in exchange for her silence concerning an alleged tryst with Trump. Michael Cohen, Trump\u2019s former attorney who allegedly facilitated payments to Daniels and others, is expected to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/trumps-ex-fixer-michael-cohen-be-key-witness-hush-money-criminal-trial-2024-04-17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">key witness<\/a> despite his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-sues-michael-cohen-for-500-million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">own criminal history<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Avenatti once represented Daniels in lawsuits against Trump, but in 2022 he was found guilty of stealing nearly $300,000 in book advance payments from his former client, among other crimes. He said \u201cthere\u2019s a significant chance\u201d the four total criminal cases against Trump would \u201cbackfire\u201d and \u201cpropel him to the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York Post also reported that Avenatti said he wished he had never met Daniels.
