Governor DeSantis criticized attempts \u200cto ban <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nonprofit-responsible-for-canceling-dr-seuss-teams-up-with-google\/\" title=\"Nonprofit Responsible For Canceling Dr. Seuss Teams Up With Google\">classic books<\/a>, \u200dlabeling \u200bthem as performative and inappropriate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Florida Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/ron-desantis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> signed a law this week that ends teachers\u2019 ability to abuse a book challenge law that was implemented to protect children from pornographic materials in school.<\/p>\n<p>The law now significantly limits the ability of Florida residents who do not have children in the state\u2019s education system to be able to challenge book titles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea that someone can use the parents rights and the curriculum transparency to start objecting to every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-scotus-ruling-in-favor-of-google-on-section-230-is-good-for-free-speech\/\" title=\"Why SCOTUS Ruling In Favor Of Google On Section 230 Is Good For Free Speech\">single book<\/a> to try to make a mockery of this is just wrong,\u201d DeSantis said the day before the bill signing. \u201cThat\u2019s performative. That\u2019s political.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis said that people did not want their time wasted by the leftists who were trying to get classic books banned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t care about your performative efforts to try to make a name for yourself, that\u2019s not appropriate,\u201d he said. \u201cSo when you have some school administrators or teachers that are saying that somehow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/virginia-republican-party-seeks-to-disqualify-democratic-nominee-for-governor-terry-mcauliffe-in-new-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Virginia Republican Party Seeks To Disqualify Democratic Nominee For Governor Terry McAuliffe In New Lawsuit\">state law requires<\/a> them to take classic books off the shelves, that is a lie. That is not true. That is depriving students of a valid education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I think that 90% of the things, I mean, when they would say that somehow, \u2018To Kill a Mockingbird\u2019 couldn\u2019t be done when that was on the state\u2019s summer reading list for the Florida Department of Education, don\u2019t tell me Florida law says you can\u2019t do that,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen they said you couldn\u2019t do a book about Hank Aaron, when that was the Book of the Month for the Florida Department of Education, don\u2019t tell us you can do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had one teacher put a video out, covered up every book in the classroom, \u2018Oh, the state!&#8217;\u201d DeSantis said mocking the teacher. \u201cYou know, that\u2019s passive aggressive nonsense, and we\u2019re just not going to tolerate it. \u2026 Here\u2019s a good test. If I stood here with with a photo from one of these books and you guys wouldn\u2019t be able to put it on your air, then it\u2019s probably not appropriate in the sixth grade classroom.
