The\u2063 Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, allocating $60.84 billion for\u2063 the Russia war,\u2062 saw a 311-112 vote with Republicans in\u2062 dissent. Meanwhile,\u200b the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, granting \u200c$26.38 billion \u200bto Israel, had a milder 366-58 vote \u2063with \u200bbipartisan support.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After the passage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2973096\/house-approves-foreign-aid-package\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"two foreign aid bills\">two foreign aid bills<\/a> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House<\/a> on Saturday, the representatives who voted against them continued to voice their opposition.<\/p>\n<p>First was the Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, which appropriated $60.84 billion for the war against Russia, which has lasted over two years. The 311-112 vote, featuring exclusively Republicans in opposition, ended with some Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2973293\/republican-looks-to-ban-foreign-flags-in-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>waving the Ukrainian flag<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stand with the Ukrainian people in their fight against Russia, but not at the continued expense of hardworking American taxpayer,\u201d Rep. James Comer (R-KY) wrote on X. \u201cThe United States cannot continue to spend blindly when those funds could be better utilitzed right here at home. As Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, I made a commitment to safeguard taxpayer funds from waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cFor the Swamp, it\u2019s Ukraine First and America Last,\u201d Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/vanorden.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/van-orden-votes-advance-national-global-security\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"statement\">statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, when it came to the<em> <\/em>Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, opposition, while more bipartisan, was much milder with a 366-58 vote. Congress allotted another $26.38 billion to the Middle Eastern ally, with even the aforementioned Bishop and Comer voting for it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen how [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu\u2019s government has used US weapons to kill indiscriminately and create famine,\u201d Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) wrote on X. \u201cI will not participate in this carnage. \u2026 [Netanyahu\u2019s] actions have not led to the release of the remaining hostages. He\u2019s ignored their families. He\u2019s ignored the president of the United States. He\u2019s ignored his own people. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ro Khanna (D-CA), and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), among others. Notably missing was Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), the only Palestinian member of Congress, who voted against the measure as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll of us support strengthening the Iron Dome and other defense systems we are committed to a sovereign, safe, and secure future for Israel,\u201d the statement reads. \u201cTo protect that future, we believe the United States must help achieve a ceasefire that allows hostages to be freed, humanitarian aid to be delivered, and peace talks to begin. \u2026 Most Americans do not want our government to write a blank check to further Prime Minister Netanyahu\u2019s war in Gaza.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Finally, there were the few members that voted against both measures. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) claimed Saturday\u2019s legislation \u201cabandons all pretense of forcing U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">border security<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I oppose today\u2019s \u201cpackage\u201d in the U.S. House, which abandons all pretense of forcing U.S. border security \u2013 &#038; will spend $95BB of foreign aid unpaid for \u2013 incl. $9BB+ in aid heavily for Gaza, that\u2019ll assuredly end up in the hands of Hamas, + a fake (cover) vote on HR2 (border).<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chip Roy (@chiproytx) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chiproytx\/status\/1781721513734844532?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 20, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAny supplemental foreign aid package should have been contingent on securing our own southern border, while also aiding our allies,\u201d Rep.
