Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) this November, and he drew fire in recent days for suggesting widespread voter fraud occurred in Wisconsin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nursing-homes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>nursing homes<\/a> during the 2020 general election, and that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cdc-to-release-revised-guidance-reducing-covid-19-quarantine-time-from-14-days-to-7-10\/\" title=\"CDC to release revised guidance reducing COVID-19 quarantine time from 14 days to 7-10\">nursing home<\/a> residents<\/a> should not be allowed to vote in elections.<\/p>\n<p>Hovde, endorsed by former President Donald Trump earlier this month, told Fox News Radio\u2019s Guy Benson that seniors living in retirement homes have a five- to six-month-long life expectancy and that \u201calmost nobody in a nursing home is at a point to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hovde has since walked back those claims; however, now the Senate candidate is facing a new controversy surrounding nursing home residents. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/20\/us\/politics\/california-lawsuit-wisconsin-senate-race.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>New York Times<\/em><\/a>  reported Saturday morning that Sunwest, the bank where Hovde currently serves as CEO, was named as a co-defendant last month in a lawsuit alleging elder abuse, negligence, and wrongful death at a retirement home owned by the bank.<\/p>\n<p>The suit itself alleges that negligence on the part of staff at a senior living facility acquired by Sunwest in 2021 accounted for the 2022 death of 94-year-old Betty Nottoli. Nottoli\u2019s daughter, Patricia Chiuppi, filed the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesman for Hovde\u2019s campaign, Ben Voelkel, has said the plaintiff filing the suit has \u201cno basis for this claim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lawsuit fails to identify the circumstances surrounding the incident,\u201d Voelkel said in a statement. \u201cIt admits that they are unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSunwest Bank was a member of an L.L.C. that came into ownership of the facility through a foreclosure.
