Since 2022, Biden and other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a> officials have consistently called for Congress to codify the provisions not included in the BSCA.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Saturday, Biden said that he and first lady Jill Biden \u201ccontinue to pray for the survivors and families impacted by this traumatic event, as well as a community that was forever changed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Columbine shooting resulted in the deaths of 12 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>students<\/a>, including the two gunmen by suicide, and a teacher, which, at the time, made it the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-senator-chris-murphy-we-have-the-votes-for-new-crackdown-on-guns-just-dont-have-enough\/\" title=\"Democrat Senator Chris Murphy: We Have The Votes For New Crackdown On Guns, Just Don\u2019t Have Enough\">deadliest school shooting<\/a> in U.S. history.<\/p>\n<p>Biden noted Saturday, however, that the two-and-a-half decades since Columbine have produced more than 400 school shootings across the country, \u201cexposing over 370,000 students to the horrors of gun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve met with countless families who\u2019ve lost loved ones because of gun violence. We need universal background checks, a national red flag law, and we must ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
