The state Supreme Court&#8217;s ruling favored \u200dthe initiative&#8217;s language, overturning a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-the-democrats-election-heist-too-big-to-fail\/\" title=\"Is the Democrats\u2019 Election Heist \u2018Too Big to Fail\u2019?\">lower court<\/a> decision supported by the Coalition for Parents and Children. The court deemed the ballot question concerning a fundamental right \u200dto reproductive freedom as valid,\u2064 dismissing claims of addressing multiple subjects.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A potential ballot measure enshrining <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"abortion\">abortion rights<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nevada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"abortion\">Nevada<\/a> is one step closer to appearing before voters in November after the state Supreme Court ruled in its favor over the language of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-converting-hotels-into-homeless-housing-doesnt-usually-work\/\" title=\"Why Converting Hotels Into Homeless Housing Doesn\u2019t Usually Work\">proposed ballot initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"lower court\">lower court<\/a> had sided with the Coalition for Parents and Children in its argument that the ballot question, which would establish \u201ca fundamental right to reproductive freedom,\u201d addressed multiple subjects. The state Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that the lower court had \u201cerred\u201d when it placed an injunction on the ballot measure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis initiative petition\u2019s single subject is the creation of a fundamental right to reproductive freedom. All the petition\u2019s provisions are fundamentally related or germane to that single subject. There is no logrolling,\u201d the decision read.<\/p>\n<p>Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada, one of the groups looking to get the proposal on the ballot, celebrated the decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s decision is a resounding victory for our movement that builds on our momentum as we fight to lock the right to reproductive freedom into our state constitution,\u201d Denise Lopez, Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada\u2019s director, said in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs anti-abortion extremists continue to attack our fundamental rights \u2014 from abortion to birth control to fertility treatments \u2014 this decision recognizes that reproductive freedom includes all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/planned-parenthood-sues-after-south-carolina-governor-signs-heartbeat-bill\/\" title=\"Planned Parenthood Sues After South Carolina Governor Signs \u2018Heartbeat\u2019 Bill\">reproductive health care<\/a>,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n<p>The group says the campaign for the ballot measure has garnered more than 160,000 signatures, which is more than the required number to make the ballot in November. The signatures, however, must be submitted to Nevada\u2019s secretary of state and get verified before the measure can be placed before voters.<\/p>\n<p>When abortion has been on the ballot since the Supreme Court\u2019s 2022 decision in<em> Dobbs v. President Joe Biden won the state in 2020, and Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) is seeking a second term to her seat in November after defeating a GOP incumbent in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion will be on the ballot in Florida, and the topic could make its way to the ballot in Arizona and Montana \u2014 states that also have hotly contested Senate races.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nevada&#8217;s abortion rights ballot measure advances for November.
