J.B. Pritzker enacted a ban on more than 170 semi-automatic firearms. The measure faces federal lawsuits. Thursday in Springfield, the Illinois State Rifle Association hosted Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day where Second Amendment Foundation\u2019s Alan Gottlieb was the keynote speaker. <\/p>\n<p>After addressing the crowd at a convention, Gottlieb told The Center Square Illinois is key to impacting gun laws in other states. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause the anti-gun people in the state of Illinois, the politicians, keep passing more and more anit-gun laws which allows Illinois to take things to court and get court victories and decisions that create precedence in all the other 49 states,\u201d Gottlieb said. <\/p>\n<p>He said gun control advocates are using rhetoric like \u201cassault weapon\u201d and \u201cweapons of war\u201d to \u201cconfuse the public.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a false narrative to push their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-biden-considering-executive-action-on-guns\/\" title=\"Psaki: Biden Considering Executive Action On Guns\">anti-gun rights agenda<\/a> and the bottom line is the courts aren\u2019t going to listen to their rhetoric,\u201d Gottlieb said. \u201cThe courts are going to look at the facts and the law and the Constitution.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Following the gathering at a convention center, hundreds of gun owners marched down the streets of Springfield to rally before they lobbied their legislators. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLook down the road and what do I see, Illinois gun owners marching with me,\u201d the crowd chanted among other slogans. <\/p>\n<p>State Rep. John Cabello, R-Machesney Park, addressed attendees after they marched through the capital city. He told the crowd that police want to help protect people, but they can\u2019t always be there and that\u2019s why he wants a \u201cstand your ground\u201d law as found in his <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilga.gov\/legislation\/BillStatus.asp?DocTypeID=HB&#038;DocNum=5803&#038;GAID=17&#038;SessionID=112&#038;LegID=154532\">House Bill 5803<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should not have to retreat,\u201d Cabello said. \u201cYou should not have to worry about a lawsuit if you\u2019re protecting yourself or your family.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gun owners in Illinois gathered at the state capitol to protest gun laws and voice optimism for legal victories.
