Fast forward to 2024, and the demographic has continued to grow, now surpassing 8% of the adult population, with more than 20% of Generation Z\u2019ers now identifying as LGBT.<\/p>\n<p>Trump earned roughly 14% of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-big-steal-new-poll-busts-open-big-media-lie-on-bidens-alleged-2020-surprise-voting-bloc\/\" title=\"THE BIG STEAL: New Poll Busts Open Big Media Lie on Biden\u2019s Alleged 2020 Surprise Voting Bloc\">gay votes<\/a> in 2020, roughly doubling his performance in 2016, and, in an election where margins are expected to be razor thin, Log Cabin Republicans President Charles Moran believes that Trump can significantly increase his share of the demographic once again in November.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, Moran claimed that Trump changed the \u201ctaboo\u201d about being openly gay and a conservative, pointing to Trump\u2019s appointment of Grenell first to be ambassador to Germany, then acting DNI, his 2019 commitments to end the HIV epidemic and global push to end the criminalization of homosexuality, and his 2020 loosening of Food and Drug Administration regulations regarding sexually active gay men donating blood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe mainstream media and even the gay media doesn\u2019t report on this now because there\u2019s this narrative that exists that Donald Trump is anti-gay,\u201d Moran said before adding that Trump was the first president to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/activist-loses-gay-marriage-cake-discrimination-case-involving-christian-baker\/\" title=\"Activist Loses 'Gay Marriage' Cake Discrimination Case Involving Christian Baker\">support gay marriage<\/a> before being sworn into office. \u201cLet\u2019s not forget to look at who Donald Trump is as an individual. This is a man who has a long history \u2014 philanthropically, businesswise, and politically \u2014 supporting LGBT inclusion. He talks publicly about how he went to Studio 54 back in the day, and how he had a lot of gay friends in New York social circles, and in the \u201980s, he had a lot of friends that died because of HIV\/AIDS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite Trump\u2019s personal relationship with the gay community, many Republican politicians have done little to support LGBT rights and are particularly hostile to transgender rights. Still, Moran argues that won\u2019t be a deal breaker come November, and he pointed to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/724454790\/IC-2024-Nationwide-Survey-of-LGBTQ-Adults\">poll<\/a> conducted this spring by the Independent Center of LGBT voters that appears to back up his claims.<\/p>\n<p>The poll, which surveyed 600 LGBT-identifying voters, found that 54% \u201cdefinitely\u201d will or are leaning toward voting for President Joe Biden, a significantly lower share of the demographic than the 81% who voted for him in 2020. The poll showed 28% of participants \u201cdefinitely\u201d planning on or leaning toward voting for Trump, with 16% undecided.<\/p>\n<p>A poll conducted in January and released by <a href=\"https:\/\/glaad.org\/releases\/glaad-releases-2024-voter-poll-94-of-lgbtq-americans-are-motivated-to-vote-72-report-negative-impact-of-political-discourse-on-mental-health-and-emotional-well-being\/\">GLAAD<\/a> in March similarly showed Biden\u2019s support among <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-jesse-jackson-remade-the-democratic-party\/\" title=\"Jesse Jackson's Democratic Party Transformation\">gay voters<\/a> falling compared to 2020, with 68% supporting the president\u2019s reelection effort and 15% backing Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the Independent Center\u2019s poll found that 56% of LGBT voters said that LGBT issues were \u201cimportant\u201d but that \u201cother issues were equally important.\u201d LGBT issues was the second-most common selection behind \u201caffordability\/inflation\u201d when the voters were asked what issues they wanted to see candidates focus on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, you will have Democrats who will earn a vast majority of the LGBT vote, but it\u2019s not going to be overwhelming. And, again, we are now seeing the majority of gay voters saying, \u2018Look, I\u2019m going to look at other things just as equally for my vote as I do LGBT issues,\u2019 which shows a real maturity among LGBT voters,\u201d Moran told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cThe Democrats are not going to be able to sit there and just say, \u2018The Republicans are bad on gay issues, and Donald Trump wants to put all of us in camps. You need to vote for us.\u2019 It\u2019s just not going to work anymore, and the polling shows that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Trump isn\u2019t alone when it comes to pursuing LGBT voters actively.<\/p>\n<p>Biden launched \u201cOut for Biden\u201d earlier this month, a national organizing and engagement program aimed at mobilizing LGBT voters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLGBTQ+ voters are a force to be reckoned with. They were critical to our victory in 2020, and they will be critical to winning again this November,\u201d Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement. \u201cDonald Trump and his extremist allies are running to gut LGBTQ+ rights and erase history as their top priorities. LGBTQ+ Americans deserve leaders who will fight for every American\u2019s freedom and dignity. That\u2019s what President Biden and Vice President Harris have done throughout their time in office, and what they will do if reelected, including pressing Congress to pass the Equality Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Moran and Log Cabin Republicans stood up a similar group for Trump in 2020 called Trump Pride, and Moran told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that the former president will once again feature his own LGBT coalition in 2024, with discussions about the group\u2019s structure and funding taking place this weekend at Mar-a-Lago.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Melania Trump, the former first lady, is set to host a high-dollar fundraiser with the Log Cabin Republicans this Saturday.
