They notably avoided questions surrounding her failure to disclose her ownership of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-and-environment\/2968324\/you-should-go-hawley-confronts-granholm-over-stock-ownership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"six companies' stocks\">six companies\u2019 stocks<\/a> ahead of her appointment as secretary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople may not be aware: Of course, oil is where you get your gas from, and it\u2019s traded on a global market, and so if there is a conflict in, you know, the Strait of Hormuz that blocks the flow of oil, that impacts you \u2014 what you pay at the pump,\u201d Granholm said. \u201cThe president is watching this. He\u2019s obsessed with it, and so we\u2019re going to be doing what we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Asked how worried Americans should be about the conflict in the Middle East affecting gas prices at home, Energy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SecGranholm?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SecGranholm<\/a> tells <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/TheView?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#TheView<\/a>: &#8220;The president is watching this. He&#8217;s obsessed with it, and so we&#8217;re going to be doing what we can.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QFLfsgxzIy\">pic.twitter.com\/QFLfsgxzIy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The View (@TheView) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheView\/status\/1781004660427403466?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Still, she urged viewers to consider moving away from fully gas-powered vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they switch over, if, you know, you\u2019re in the market for a new car and you decide you want to look at electric vehicles, this is the time,\u201d Granholm said. \u201cOr hybrid, hybrid-electric.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if you live in the projects?\u201d host Whoopi Goldberg asked. \u201cWhat if you don\u2019t have a home?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Granholm acknowledged that \u201cthere are gaps in urban areas.\u201d The secretary then talked about plans to install more EV charging stations. Goldberg listened with her chin resting in her hand until the secretary paused to say, \u201cYou don\u2019t look convinced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am convinced, but I do have questions because people are getting energy bills \u2014 electric bills \u2014 that are insane,\u201d Goldberg said.<\/p>\n<p>Americans bought <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anl.gov\/esia\/light-duty-electric-drive-vehicles-monthly-sales-updates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"135,035 plug-in vehicles\">135,035 plug-in vehicles<\/a> in March, an increase of 19% from the sales in March 2023. However, these sales were less than 10% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/secretary-of-energy-calls-for-homeowners-and-ev-drivers-to-combat-climate-change\/\" title=\"Energy Secretary Urges Homeowners and Electric Vehicle Owners to Fight Climate Change\">total light-duty vehicle sales<\/a> for the month.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla sold the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/960121\/sales-of-all-electric-vehicles-worldwide-by-model\/#:~:text=The%20Tesla%20Model%20Y%20was,Y%20have%20surpassed%201.7%20million.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"most electric vehicles\">most electric vehicles<\/a> last year, with both its Model Y and Model 3 in the top three most purchased electric vehicles. Combined, the two models sold more than 1.7 million cars last year alone.
