The regulations would require car manufacturers to sell more electric vehicles. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-324988442\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eb85bd30d43a48d604f9f205c89e1c35 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eb85bd30d43a48d604f9f205c89e1c35\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cei.org\/experts\/daren-bakst\/\">Daren Bakst<\/a>, director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cei.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Competitive Enterprise Institute\u2019s Center on Energy and Environment<\/a>, called the new emissions rules \u201cone of the most extreme rules ever finalized by a federal agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EPA\u2019s rule would restrict the ability of Americans to buy gas-powered vehicles, a chilling abuse of power and a wanton disregard for individual freedom,\u201d Bakst <a href=\"https:\/\/dcjournal.com\/bidens-emissions-rule-a-de-facto-ban-on-gas-powered-cars-critics-say\/\">said <\/a>when the regulations were unveiled. <\/p>\n<p>Now, attorneys general in half of U.S. states are suing to block the administration from forcing high-cost, low-energy electric cars on American consumers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden Administration is willing to sacrifice the American auto industry and its workers in service of its radical green agenda,\u201d the Kentucky attorney general said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kentucky.gov\/Pages\/Activity-stream.aspx?n=AttorneyGeneral&#038;prId=1557\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cWe just aren\u2019t buying it. Demand for EVs continues to fall, and even those who want to buy one can\u2019t afford it amid historic inflation.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-884d124592d3f8d43b63a0520bb1a789 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-884d124592d3f8d43b63a0520bb1a789\"><\/div>\n<p>According to an Ipsos <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/new-yahoo-finance-ipsos-poll-shows-over-half-of-americans-unlikely-to-buy-an-ev-130040140.html?guccounter=1&#038;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuYnVzaW5lc3NpbnNpZGVyLmNvbS8&#038;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAHCj3rAXRddupp4jQ0RD5ybkdlH9QD6ozCH7nt1UPGabRa7AXPQHpi3H29PeIwcFehnHAu_SKziGMYwyXSrFNuOgcTOC6ockywLS2aczsWl2QpRjT5yqUYZlmIWYO5p8pawJ4Lqqzsqp5Zfb_0KGthQb8F1O4h2FTv-U2tVynUsg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll <\/a>with Yahoo Finance conducted last fall, 57 percent of the more than 1,000 Americans surveyed reported they were unlikely to purchase an electric car. Another 11 percent said they were unsure while just 31 percent said they were likely to buy one. <\/p>\n<p>The EPA\u2019s new emissions demands have been years in the making. In the summer of President Joe Biden\u2019s first year in office, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/08\/07\/bidens-electric-vehicle-plan-without-mining-expansion-is-a-big-win-for-beijing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">called <\/a>for new auto sales to be 50 percent electric by the end of the decade. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere [is] a vision of the future that is now beginning to happen,\u201d Biden said at a White House event. \u201cA future of the automobile industry that is electric. Battery electric, plug-in, hybrid electric, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-unveils-2030-target-of-50-electric-vehicles\/\" title=\"Biden unveils 2030 target of 50% electric vehicles\">fuel cell electric<\/a>, it\u2019s electric and there\u2019s no turning back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>EPA regulations are a cornerstone of the administration\u2019s push to electrify the American vehicle fleet, despite China <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/05\/even-this-left-wing-report-sounds-the-alarm-u-s-is-way-too-dependent-on-communist-china-for-minerals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dominating <\/a>the mineral supply chain required to manufacture such vehicles. In March, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/electric-cars-emit-more-soot-california-ban-gas-powered-vehicles-521b29e3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">op-ed<\/a> in the Wall Street Journal called attention to data showing \u201cairborne tire-wear emissions are more than 400 times as great as direct exhaust particulate emissions.\u201d Electric vehicles also remain prohibitively <a href=\"https:\/\/jalopnik.com\/evs-are-still-too-expensive-for-buyers-despite-huge-di-1851419290\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expensive <\/a>for most consumers even after <a href=\"https:\/\/goodjobsfirst.org\/report-at-13-8-billion-unnecessary-electric-vehicle-factory-subsidies-are-in-overdrive\/\">billions <\/a>in government subsidies. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4fe8fb77c6b313be48fdc30473571cac fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4fe8fb77c6b313be48fdc30473571cac\"><\/div>\n<p>West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, whose state <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/07\/how-the-supreme-court-upended-epas-power-grab-and-curbed-the-administrative-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won <\/a>a landmark decision against the administrative state\u2019s lawmaking that bypassed Congress two years ago, called the EPA\u2019s latest emissions rules \u201clegally flawed and unrealistic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the high prices of electric vehicles, this would have devastating effects in the daily lives of consumers\u2014many of whom are already suffering from the burdens of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ortiz-bidenflation-is-the-next-pandemic\/\" title=\"Ortiz: Bidenflation Is the Next Pandemic\">historically high inflation<\/a>,\u201d Morrisey said in a statement. \u201cThis is an attack on rural America and rural Americans who are working really hard to make ends meet\u2014they are going to get bludgeoned by this rule.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e4415490423500157799058a1d7956e6 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e4415490423500157799058a1d7956e6\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kentucky&#8217;s Russell Coleman and 24 attorneys general filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration&#8217;s EV mandate.
