During an appearance on ABC&#8217;s The View\u200b ahead of Earth Day, Granholm emphasized the benefits of\u200b weatherizing homes and transitioning to electric or \u2062hybrid vehicles. Hosts\u200c raised queries about urban gaps in these initiatives, \u2062prompting further discussion.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Secretary of Energy <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jennifer-granholm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jennifer Granholm<\/a> had little advice for <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/climate-change\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>climate-friendly<\/a> solutions outside of home renovations and <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/electric-vehicles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>electric vehicle<\/a> purchases.<\/p>\n<p>Granholm appeared on ABC\u2019s <em><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/theview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"The View\">The View<\/a><\/em>  Thursday ahead of Earth Day on Apr. 22, where the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/youtube-censors-viral-trump-interview-on-nelk-boys-full-send-podcast\/\" title=\"YouTube Censors Viral Trump Interview on Nelk Boys' 'Full Send' Podcast\">hosts asked<\/a> her to share how their viewers can combat climate change. The hosts notably avoided questions surrounding her failure to disclose her ownership of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/energy-and-environment\/2968324\/you-should-go-hawley-confronts-granholm-over-stock-ownership\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"six companies' stocks\">six companies\u2019 stocks<\/a> ahead of her appointment as secretary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest things you can do is to be able to weatherize your home and there are tax credits associated with that doing that. So, for example, if you want to install windows that don\u2019t leak out the heat in the winter and the cold in the summer, you can get a tax credit for that,\u201d Granholm said. \u201cThe second thing that people can consider is their transportation. Meaning, if they switch over, if, you know, you\u2019re in the market for a new car and you decide you want to look at electric vehicles, this is the time. Or hybrid, hybrid-electric.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if you live in the projects?\u201d host Whoopi Goldberg asked. \u201cWhat if you don\u2019t have a home?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Granholm acknowledged that \u201cthere are gaps in urban areas.\u201d The secretary then talked about plans to install more EV charging stations. Goldberg listened with her chin resting in her hand until the secretary paused to say, \u201cYou don\u2019t look convinced.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am convinced, but I do have questions because people are getting energy bills \u2014 electric bills \u2014 that are insane,\u201d Goldberg said. Granholm laughed at the question before host Alyssa Farrah Griffin asked about rising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gas-prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gas prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople may not be aware. Oil is where you get your gas from, and it\u2019s traded on a global market, so if there is a conflict in, you know, the Strait of Hormuz that blocks the flow of oil, that impacts you \u2014 what you pay at the pump,\u201d Granholm said. \u201cThe president is watching this. He\u2019s obsessed with it, and so we\u2019re going to be doing what we can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Americans bought <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anl.gov\/esia\/light-duty-electric-drive-vehicles-monthly-sales-updates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"135,035 plug-in vehicles\">135,035 plug-in vehicles<\/a> in March, which was an increase of 19% from the sales in March 2023. However these sales were less than 10% of the total light-duty vehicle sales for the month. <\/p>\n<p>Tesla sold the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/960121\/sales-of-all-electric-vehicles-worldwide-by-model\/#:~:text=The%20Tesla%20Model%20Y%20was,Y%20have%20surpassed%201.7%20million.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"most electric vehicles\">most electric vehicles<\/a> last year, with both its Model Y and Model 3 in the top three most purchased electric vehicles. Combined, they sold more than 1.7 million cars last year alone.
