Despite\u200b Trump&#8217;s denials, prosecutors are determined to delve into his \u2063history to \u2063assess his veracity.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Prosecutors in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a> criminal hush money case against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> filed a notice Wednesday outlining their plans to question the former president about his previous civil trials to undermine his credibility.<\/p>\n<p>The so-called Sandoval notice by Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2902594\/alvin-bragg-dealt-blow-after-arizona-judge-rules-not-to-extradite-murder-suspect-to-nyc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Alvin Bragg<\/a> includes \u201cfacts\u201d pertaining to the civil fraud trial against the Trump Organization brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), and the two \u201csexual abuse\u201d defamation lawsuits brought against him by writer E. (Justin Lane\/Pool Photo via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf the defendant chooses to testify, the People intend to inquire regarding the following,\u201d Bragg\u2019s office wrote in a filing dated March 10, which became public on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Bragg, an elected Democrat, has charged Trump with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records for what prosecutors say was the illegal concealment of payments to hide an alleged affair with porn star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/stormy-daniels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stormy Daniels<\/a>. He began the list by noting Trump, on Feb. 16, was ordered to pay upwards of $354 million in a civil fraud case for \u201crepeatedly and persistently falsifying business records\u201d and \u201cmisstating the value of his assets for economic benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendant also \u201csexually abused E. Jean Carroll. Jury awarded the plaintiff $2,020,000 in compensatory and punitive damages on her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/scotland-yard-closes-case-against-prince-andrew-after-reviewing-sex-assault-claims\/\" title=\"Scotland Yard Closes Case Against Prince Andrew After Reviewing Sex Assault Claims\">sexual abuse claim<\/a>,\u201d Bragg\u2019s office said, citing the May 9, 2023 judgment from Carroll\u2019s first defamation case against Trump. The former president has repeatedly denied her allegation that he raped her in the mid-1990s, which has served as the basis for her two defamation lawsuits against him.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who has pleaded not guilty to all the charges in the hush money case, is currently under a gag order imposed by presiding Justice Juan Merchan, who is handling the trial at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/New-York\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>New York<\/a> County Criminal Court. The order keeps him from speaking negatively about witnesses, jurors, members of the prosecution, court staff, and family members of prosecutors and judges.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>New York County District Attorney\u2019s Office<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Bragg\u2019s list cited the former president\u2019s previous gag order violations from his past civil trials, including when Trump \u201ctestified untruthfully under oath when he claims that his public comments about a judge\u2019s law clerk were instead about a witness.\u201d The prosecution hopes the list will serve to impeach Trump\u2019s credibility during the trial, as the former president has teased he may testify in his own defense at some point during the proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>A series of other past cases were also noted, including the Democratic New York attorney general\u2019s case against the Donald J. Trump Foundation and a lawsuit\u00a0Trump filed against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Hillary-Clinton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hillary Clinton<\/a> that ended with him being sanctioned and ordered to pay nearly $938,000 in legal fees.\u00a0The Sandoval filing also cited a criminal fraud case against the Trump Corporation, which Merchan oversaw.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, Trump\u2019s attorneys have given every indication that they aim to impeach the credibility of Michael Cohen, an ex-attorney and fixer to Trump who helped facilitate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-trump-bid-to-shield-financial-records\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Trump Bid To Shield Financial Records\">hush money payment<\/a>.
