The sentencing resulted from a joint\u2063 investigation by law enforcement agencies. Deputy Attorney General Lisa\u2062 Monaco commented on the sentencing.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/abortion\/\" title>abortion<\/a> rights activist was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/crime\/2024\/04\/16\/man-sentenced-7-5-years-firebombing-wisconsin-pro-life-organization-2022\/\">firebombing<\/a> an anti-abortion building in Madison, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin\/\" title>Wisconsin<\/a>, in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/man-pleads-guilty-firebombing-building\">pleaded guilty<\/a> in December to throwing two Molotov cocktails through the windows of Wisconsin Family Action on May 8, 2022. The attack happened shortly after the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/supreme-court-abortion-draft-opinion-07439f9fc4542f1500ab78dfd34036b1\">leak of the United States Supreme Court decision<\/a> in <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, which concluded that the Constitution does not provide a right to abortion, and appeared to be an act of retaliation for the decision. He was sentenced to federal prison last week for his actions.<\/p>\n<p>Court documents revealed that one of Roychowdhury\u2019s firebombs set a bookcase on fire, according to the Department of Justice. Police officers arrived on the scene to an active fire in the office. Later, police officers noticed other devices used to cause destruction as well as graffiti on one of the walls that read, \u201cIf abortions aren\u2019t safe, then you aren\u2019t either.\u201d Additional graffiti included the number \u201c1312\u201d and a large \u201cA\u201d with a circle around it.<\/p>\n<p>Charges against Roychowdhury resulted from a joint investigation by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/2-fbi-agents-suspect-dead-after-shootout-in-upscale-fla-community\/\" title=\"2 FBI agents, suspect dead after shootout in upscale Fla. community\">multiple law enforcement agencies<\/a>, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the FBI\u2019s Joint Terrorism Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, the Dane County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the Wisconsin State Capitol Police Department, and the Madison Police Department, among others, the Department of Justice said.<\/p>\n<p>Roychowdhury\u2019s sentencing was announced on April 10 through a press release by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/wisconsin-man-sentenced-prison-2022-firebombing-madison-building\" title>Department of Justice<\/a>. Several officials commented on the case and the sentencing. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sentence imposed today is the result of innovative work by the FBI and Justice Department prosecutors who tirelessly investigated this case,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/wisconsin-man-sentenced-prison-2022-firebombing-madison-building\">said Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco.<\/a> \u201cIt is also a reminder that the Justice Department will hold accountable those who turn to violence as a means of intimidation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe FBI will not stand for the use of violence or criminal activity to express personal views on any matter,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/wisconsin-man-sentenced-prison-2022-firebombing-madison-building\">said FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate.<\/a> \u201cToday\u2019s sentencing is the result of the FBI\u2019s commitment to use all of our resources to aggressively pursue anyone who uses violent tactics in an attempt to impose their views on others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEngaging in an act of terror \u2013 in this case, firebombing a business because of their beliefs \u2013 is criminal and unamerican. O\u2019Shea for the Western District of Wisconsin. \u201cDomestic terrorism is cowardly and profoundly undemocratic. It is not speech; it is not an exchange of ideas; instead, it is an attempt to harm or frighten one\u2019s fellow citizens, thus driving Americans apart and weakening the fabric of our democratic society.
