The \u200ccounties emphasize the need for \u2062cooperation to address the immigration crisis and seek to overturn the restrictive laws.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/colorado\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado<\/a> counties are challenging the state\u2019s laws that restrict local law enforcement\u2019s ability to cooperate with federal immigration authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Monday, a <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/24548867\/douglas-county-v-state-of-colorado-complaint-district-court-denver.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> was filed against Colorado through Democratic Governor Jared Polis by Douglas and El Paso Counties, who argue that the state\u2019s sanctuary city laws are dangerous and unconstitutional. The suit challenges two laws, <a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2019a_1124_signed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HB 19-1124<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/leg.colorado.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/documents\/2023A\/bills\/2023a_1100_enr.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HB 23-1100<\/a>, which prohibit police from detaining an illegal immigrant based on a civil immigration detainer from an agency like ICE and block local governments from working with the feds to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/maryland-government-officials-worked-with-open-borders-activists-to-draft-sanctuary-law\/\" title=\"Maryland Government Officials Worked With Open Borders Activists To Draft Sanctuary Law\">detain illegal immigrants<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe nation is facing an immigration crisis. The nation, the state, and local governments need to cooperate and share resources to address this crisis,\u201d the suit, filed in Denver County District Court, says. \u201cColorado House Bills 19-1124 and 23- 1100 prohibit the necessary cooperation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ap-claps-back-at-fired-anti-israel-reporter-who-claims-she-was-cancel-culture-victim-journalists-cannot-take-sides\/\" title=\"AP Claps Back At Fired Anti-Israel Reporter Who Claims She Was \u2018Cancel Culture\u2019 Victim: Journalists \u2018Cannot Take Sides\u2019\">create dangerous conditions<\/a> for the State and migrants.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The suit argues that the Colorado Constitution \u201cforbids the use of constitutional power to prohibit a political subdivision of the State from cooperating or contracting with the federal government.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The counties say that the laws should be struck down and they should be allowed to cooperate with federal agencies to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mayorkas-sworn-in-as-secretary-of-homeland-security-despite-heavy-gop-opposition\/\" title=\"Mayorkas Sworn In As Secretary Of Homeland Security Despite Heavy GOP Opposition\">enforce immigration law<\/a>.
