When asked which they believe is more significant, 50 percent, a dramatic plurality of those polled, said it is more important to \u201csecure the border\u201d than to \u201cprovide funding for Ukraine.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Only 11 percent said it is more important to continue funding Ukraine, while 29 percent said, \u201cboth equally.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>When further pressed on U.S. policy toward each issue, swing-vote respondents overwhelmingly indicated support for tackling the ongoing border crisis. Of those surveyed, 54 percent said the \u201cbest approach\u201d for America is to \u201cspend more to secure the U.S. border than to help Ukraine,\u201d while 10 percent said the opposite. Meanwhile, 23 percent said the U.S. should spend an equal amount of money addressing both problems, while 12 percent are \u201cnot sure.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The poll also found that likely voters are adamantly opposed to shipping more U.S. taxpayer dollars to Ukraine. Congress advanced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crfb.org\/blogs\/congress-approved-113-billion-aid-ukraine-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$113 billion<\/a> for Ukraine in 2022 alone, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. <\/p>\n<p>Fifty-six percent of respondents think that\u2019s too much. Just 3 percent of respondents said the U.S. has sent \u201cfar too little\u201d assistance to Kyiv, with 9 percent saying it\u2019s \u201csomewhat too little.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Equally significant, the vast majority of swing-state voters oppose Congress\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/02\/mike-johnsons-ukraine-first-agenda-shows-hes-no-different-than-mitch-mcconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ongoing efforts<\/a> to pass legislation containing more funds for Ukraine but nothing related to securing the U.S. border. A whopping 75 percent of Americans, 3 in 4, oppose such a proposal. Only 5 percent said they \u201cstrongly favor\u201d the measure, and 12 percent said they \u201csomewhat favor\u201d it. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryday Americans are fed up with rubberstamping the Swamp\u2019s endless Ukraine funding,\u201d Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/press\/new-poll-battleground-states-reveals-ukraine-fatigue-border-security-top-priority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>. \u201cHeritage\u2019s latest polling reveals that not only are moderate voters in battleground states more interested in securing our own borders, they believe we have already spent enough helping Ukraine \u2014 and rightfully so.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>The survey was conducted April 2-4 among likely voters in Nevada, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, with a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
