The court proceedings, led by Judge I\u2019Ashea\u2063 L.\u200c Myles, will determine if these\u2063 materials should\u200b be made public under the\u2062 Tennessee \u2062Public Records Act.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A Nashville, Tennessee court is set to hear long-awaited arguments over whether or not to release documents that belonged to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-is-your-sign-to-catechize-your-kids-and-yourself\/\" title=\"This Is Your Sign To Catechize Your Kids \u2014 And Yourself\">transgender-identifying shooter<\/a> who murdered six people at the Covenant School, which have been kept sealed from the public for more than a year.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newschannel5.com\/news\/the-covenant-documents-hearing-starts-this-week-but-what-has-happened-in-the-case\">court proceedings<\/a>, overseen by Judge I\u2019Ashea L. Myles, will decide whether a trove of documents belonging to the shooter, who took the lives of three children and three staff members at the private Christian academy on March 27th, 2023, will be made available to the public.<\/p>\n<p>Included is not only the shooter\u2019s manifesto, but also 14 different home videos, 20 journals, a suicide note, and a psych folder with medical information about the shooter. There are also three folders with information on school shootings and firearms courses, as well as a memoir and notes written by the shooter.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing hinges on the Tennessee Public Records Act, which controls what documents should be classified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-commuting-his-sentence-ca-gov-newsom-reverses-parole-for-convicted-double-murderer\/\" title=\"After Commuting His Sentence, CA Gov. Newsom Reverses Parole For Convicted Double Murderer\">public records<\/a>, as well as which ones should not. Five different parties are part of the suit \u2014 the Tennessee Firearms Association, The Tennessean, The Tennessee Star, Republican state legislator Todd Gardenhire, and the National Police Association.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side is a group of\u00a0families from the Covenant School that filed a motion to block the release of the documents, arguing that their release could further traumatize those who were personally affected by the shooting.<\/p>\n<p>Metro Nashville Police Department Chief John Drake previously said that he would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/court-pennsylvania-must-release-records-on-non-citizens-voting-in-elections\/\" title=\"Court: Pennsylvania Must Release Records On Non-Citizens Voting In Elections\">release records pertaining<\/a> to the case before later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nashville-police-refuse-to-release-school-shooters-manifesto-citing-pending-lawsuit\">backtracking<\/a>. Multiple entities have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/superintendent-leaked-private-student-information-to-a-union-activists-tried-to-bury-and-distract-using-racism-claims\/\" title=\"Superintendent Leaked Private Student Information To A Union, Activists Tried To \u2018Bury\u2019 And \u2018Distract\u2019 Using Racism Claims\">submitted public records requests<\/a>, including The Daily Wire, but all have been declined.<\/p>\n<p>A small <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nashville-police-finally-address-leaked-images-of-covenant-school-shooters-manifesto\">portion<\/a> of the manifesto was leaked in November by podcaster Steven Crowder, who obtained three photographs of the alleged manifesto. The pages included racial slurs against white children as well as an itinerary for \u201cdeath day,\u201d which articulated her intent to have a \u201chigh death count.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Rausch, the director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, has stated that the shooter did not write about politics or social issues, with her writings largely dedicated to idolizing previous school shooters. Rausch also says the documents show shooter planned the attack on the Covenant School for months.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Judicial Watch, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.judicialwatch.org\/covenant-school-shooter\/\">filed the lawsuit<\/a> on behalf of the groups, has also called for the public release of the documents and charged that the secrecy is due to politics.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the court to place the public\u2019s right to know above any political considerations,\u201d the organization\u2019s president, Tom Fitton, said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In Nashville, Tennessee, a court will finally discuss releasing sealed documents of the transgender shooter who tragically killed six at Covenant School.
