The\u00a0letter claimed the \u201cimpeachment investigation is over\u201d and claimed the oversight panel has turned up evidence showing that Biden \u201chas done nothing wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The House should \u201cfocus on the issues that matter to the American people rather than continuing to waste time and taxpayer resources on this partisan charade,\u201d Sauber wrote, adding, \u201cwe decline your invitation for President Biden to testify.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">White House has formally denied Comer\u2019s request that Biden testify as part of impeachment inquiry: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FOpMcS77TU\">pic.twitter.com\/FOpMcS77TU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jordain Carney (@jordainc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jordainc\/status\/1780027645549260971?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 16, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not mentioned in the letter was whether Biden answered a series of questions in which Comer asked Biden to respond in writing about whether he met or otherwise interacted with specific foreign business executives, as well as details on the context of the contacts. But a release from the House Oversight Committee said Biden refused to answer the questions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe apple doesn\u2019t fall far from the tree in the Biden family. Like his son, Hunter Biden, President Biden is refusing to testify in public about the Bidens\u2019 corrupt influence peddling. This comes as no surprise since President Biden continues to lie about his relationships with his son\u2019s business partners, even denying they exist when his son said under oath during a deposition that they did,\u201d Comer said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate President Biden is unwilling to answer questions before the American people and refuses to answer the very simple, straightforward questions we included in the invitation,\u201d Comer added. \u201cWhy is it so difficult for the White House to answer those questions? The American people deserve transparency from President Biden, not more lies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-formally-invited-to-testify-for-impeachment-inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sent<\/a> his formal invitation to Biden in late March. He offered April 16 as a date for a hearing and noted that his panel was \u201copen to accommodating\u201d the president\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n<p>House investigators accounted for $24 million that \u201cflowed\u201d toward Biden, his family, and their business associates from other countries such as China and Ukraine, Comer said. He asserted his panel\u00a0\u201cidentified no legitimate services to merit such lucrative payments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Evidence including bank records and witness testimony \u201cwholly contradicts\u201d Biden\u2019s denial about being involved in his family\u2019s business activities,\u201d Comer said. The chairman accused the White House of taking a \u201cposition hostile\u201d to his panel\u2019s investigation and \u201crefuses to release certain information or make available witnesses to testify regarding issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of the yawning gap between your public statements and the evidence assembled by the Committee, as well as the White House\u2019s obstruction, it is in the best interest of the American people for you to answer questions from Members of Congress directly, and I hereby invite you to do so,\u201d Comer said.<\/p>\n<p>The invitation came a little more than a week after a pair of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/impeachment-witness-tony-bobulinski-claims-hunter-and-james-biden-perjured-themselves\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former Biden family associates<\/a>, Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis, testified in a public hearing that Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/witnesses-confirm-joe-bidens-involvement-in-his-familys-influence-peddling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">did participate<\/a> in his family\u2019s business dealings. The president\u2019s son, Hunter Biden, declined to attend after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/comer-eyes-public-hearing-with-hunter-biden-to-address-discrepancies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">closed-door interview<\/a> in which he claimed his father was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/hunter-biden-testifies-house-oversight-judiciary-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">not involved<\/a> in his deals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe public is left with two irreconcilable narratives,\u201d Comer said. \u201cThe first \u2014 asserted by you \u2014 is that you did not engage in influence peddling in exchange for payments to your family. The second asserted by witnesses and a body of evidence \u2026 is that you were indeed involved in these pay-for-influence schemes and that you have been repeatedly untruthful regarding a matter relevant to national security and your own fitness to serve\u201d as president.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>When Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-impeachment-president-to-get-invite-for-testimony-gop-chairman-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> that he planned to invite President Biden to testify, Oversight Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) asked Comer if he would also invite former President Donald Trump to talk about his alleged emoluments violations and claimed there is no evidence of the elder Biden committing high crimes and misdemeanors.<\/p>\n<p>While it remains unclear whether the Republicans will ultimately introduce articles of impeachment, let alone have enough votes to pass them in the narrowly-divided House, Comer recently suggested there will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/comer-says-biden-impeachment-inquiry-will-lead-to-multiple-criminal-referrals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminal referrals<\/a> that come out of the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s brother, James Biden, is among the witnesses to provide testimony for the impeachment inquiry. He also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/james-biden-claims-president-was-not-involved-in-family-business-dealings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">denied<\/a> President Biden was involved in his business affairs.
