Still Have Mask Mandates in Place\">facing legal challenges<\/a>.\u2063 The law bans operations \u2063like double\u200b mastectomies on girls identifying as boys and administering puberty blockers \u200cand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/very-complicated-dr-rachel-levine-dodges-sen-pauls-issue-about-sex-adjustments-for-children\/\" title=\"\u2018Very Complicated\u2019: Dr. Rachel Levine Dodges Sen. Paul\u2019s Issue About Sex Adjustments For Children\">cross-sex hormones<\/a>. Justices sided with Idaho&#8217;s Attorney General, whereas dissenters expressed opposing views. This\u200d decision marks the first Supreme Court ruling regarding \u200csuch state\u2064 legislation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Supreme Court ruled Monday to allow an Idaho law protecting children from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/here-are-the-left-wing-legal-groups-backing-trans-procedures-on-kids\/\" title=\"Left-wing legal groups support transgender procedures for children.\">life-altering transgender procedures<\/a> to go into effect while the law is challenged in lower courts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The law, passed last year, bans procedures like double mastectomies on girls who identify as boys and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-rand-paul-offers-dr-rachel-levine-as-example-of-radical-agenda-riding-bidens-coattails\/\" title=\"Sen. Rand Paul Offers Dr. Rachel Levine As Example Of Radical Agenda Riding Biden\u2019s Coattails\">giving children puberty blockers<\/a> and cross-sex hormones, which have been linked to bone development issues and heart problems. The law also stipulates that doctors who perform transgender procedures on kids could go to prison for 10 years. The decision means the law will go into effect for the state except for two families who say their children identify as transgender who sued with the help of the ACLU claiming the law was discriminatory. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Justices Neil Gorsuch, Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/23a763_n7io.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sided<\/a> with Idaho Attorney General Ra\u00fal Labrador who appealed to the court to turn back a sweeping injunction placed on the law by a federal judge who completely blocked the law. Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan all dissented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gorsuch said that Judge B. Lynn Winmill, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/judge-blocks-idaho-law-protecting-kids-from-transgender-procedures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blocked<\/a> Idaho\u2019s law back in December, went too far in her decision.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOrdinarily, injunctions like these may go no further than necessary to provide interim relief to the parties,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/supreme-court-allows-idaho-enforce-ban-gender-affirming\/story?id=108711989\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cIn this case, however, the district court went much further, prohibiting a State from enforcing any aspect of its duly enacted law against anyone.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ruling was the first time for the Supreme Court to weigh in on a state law shielding children from life-altering transgender procedures. Labrador <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ag.idaho.gov\/newsroom\/us-supreme-court-allows-idaho-to-enforce-law-protecting-vulnerable-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrated<\/a> the ruling, saying it was a major win for children in his state. Litigation will continue and the Supreme Court will likely hear the case on its merits at some point after the appeals process. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019ve witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of drugs and procedures used on children with gender dysphoria. No one has the right to harm children, and I\u2019m grateful that we, as the state, have the power \u2014 and duty \u2014 to protect them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Labrador\u2019s appeal to the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/red-states-urge-scotus-to-back-idahos-transgender-surgery-ban-cite-daily-wires-bombshell-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was backed<\/a> by 19 Republican attorneys general, who argued that it would be a \u201cdevastating medical scandal\u201d if Idaho was not allowed to protect children from transgender procedures.
