Nobody has ever seen anything like it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alisondurkee\/2024\/04\/15\/prosecutors-want-trump-fined-3000-for-violating-judge-merchans-gag-order\/?sh=49e49877749d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">argued<\/a> Trump should be fined for allegedly violating his gag order after criticizing potential witnesses. Jury selection <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/04\/15\/jury-selection-trump-hush-money-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">could take weeks<\/a> as prospective jurors are vetted until 12 people and several alternates are picked. Opening statements and testimony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/04\/15\/trump-hush-money-criminal-trial\/no-access-hollywood-tape-00152240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">may not even start<\/a> until May.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has broadly denied any wrongdoing in three other criminal cases that have not reached the trial stage. He has also been <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-steele-dossier-uk-lawsuit-russia-55427915a83f33a8ead484109b8a89f6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ordered<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-fined-350-million-in-civil-business-fraud-trial-banned-from-doing-business-in-ny-for-3-years#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pay hundreds of millions<\/a> of dollars in civil litigation, including as part of a New York business fraud judgment that the former president is <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-new-york-civil-fraud-appeal-letitia-james-2f8cc521e00e4a34a1342b961c1416ce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">appealing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Fani Willis: 2020 Election Interference Case In Fulton County<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fulton-county-prosecutors-have-another-recording-of-trump-pressuring-georgia-house-speaker-to-overturn-election-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fani Willis<\/a> is leading a 2020 election interference case against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/donald-trump\">Donald Trump<\/a> and his allies. Trump and 18 co-defendants pleaded not guilty to a bevy of charges, but four of them have since taken <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courthousenews.com\/fourth-trump-co-defendant-takes-plea-deal-in-georgia-election-interference-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">plea deals<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The case got sidetracked as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jury-selection-under-way-in-trial-of-illegal-immigrant\/\" title=\"Jury selection under way in trial of illegal immigrant\">defense raised concerns<\/a> about Willis and her special prosecutor, Nathan Wade, having an improper relationship. A judge allowed Willis to stay on the case Wade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nathan-wade-steps-down-as-special-prosecutor-in-trump-georgia-case-following-judges-ruling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">resigned<\/a> in March. Afterward, CNN reported Willis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/21\/politics\/fani-willis-trump-georgia-trial\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hoped<\/a> to have the trial before the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Willis has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/news\/special-reports\/ga-trump-investigation\/fulton-county-da-court-appeals-decline-review-disqualification-ruling\/85-43861f0b-9934-4ab7-8d21-591ab3332656\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">requested an<\/a> appeals court uphold the ruling after the defense <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/03\/29\/trump-fani-willis-nathan-wade-georgia-election\/77209956-ee03-11ee-8f2c-380a821c02db_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sought a review<\/a>. She said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fani-willis-responds-to-jordans-demand-for-docs-after-contempt-threat\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent letter<\/a> to House GOP investigators seeking documents that \u201cnothing that you do will derail the efforts of my staff and I to bring the election interference prosecution to trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Jack Smith: 2020 Election Interference Case And Classified Documents Case<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The two remaining criminal matters hanging over Trump are being spearheaded by special counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/jack-smith\">Jack Smith<\/a>. One case accuses Trump of unlawfully plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The other pertains to Trump\u2019s handling of classified documents after leaving office and his allegedly trying to obstruct an investigation into his retention of those records.<\/p>\n<p>Smith has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/exclusive-matt-gaetz-calls-on-doj-inspector-general-to-investigate-jack-smith\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pressed<\/a> the Supreme Court to fast-track consideration of Trump\u2019s presidential immunity claim to clear the way for a trial in the election case in Washington, D.C., which has already blown past the presiding judge\u2019s plan for a March 4 start date. The high court <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AnnaBower\/status\/1765450613066715420\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is expected to hear<\/a> oral arguments on April 25.<\/p>\n<p>The trial in Smith\u2019s documents case has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-trial-date-documents-case-may-20-2024\/\">set to begin on May 20<\/a> in Florida, though the judge in that matter has indicated she may postpone it. Prosecutors have proposed the trial be pushed back to July 8 while Trump\u2019s legal team <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/trump-jack-smith-propose-new-trial-dates-classified-docs-case-rcna141272\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">settled on August 12<\/a> as their preferred start date after pressing for it to start after the November election.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is now the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, after his major rivals dropped out and he secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination, even as much of his time and resources have gone into the court battles and paying legal bills.
