With a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usdebtclock.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$34.6 trillion habit <\/a>\u2014 and climbing \u2014 the itch is getting itchier. <\/p>\n<p>Besides, Democrats and Republicans have big plans. Ukraine isn\u2019t going to just defend itself, after all. And turning the greatest nation in the history of the world into a banana republic takes lots of cash for the political weaponization alone. <\/p>\n<p>But wait \u2026 there\u2019s more, as the infomercials say. <\/p>\n<p>Because misery loves company, and because we\u2019re all bound by that galling axiom about death and taxes, here are just some of the many ways your government is burning your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/government-unions-have-been-stealing-money-for-years-now-scotus-has-the-chance-to-intervene\/\" title=\"Government Unions Have Been Stealing Money For Years \u2014 Now, SCOTUS Has The Chance To Intervene\">hard-earned dollars<\/a>. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-62beb2858539908a55e61d72460b49d7 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-62beb2858539908a55e61d72460b49d7\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Runaway Debt<\/h2>\n<p>Patrick Carroll at the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE) earlier this year detailed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/fee.org\/articles\/7-ridiculous-examples-of-government-waste-in-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">7 Ridiculous Examples of Government Waste in 2023.<\/a>\u201d Carroll\u2019s piece draws from Sen. Rand Paul\u2019s annual \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hsgac.senate.gov\/media\/reps\/dr-paul-releases-2023-festivus-report-on-government-waste\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Festivus Report\u201d<\/a> (named after the <a href=\"https:\/\/festivusweb.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seinfeldian holiday<\/a> that includes the \u201cairing of grievances\u201d). Paul\u2019s report notes $900 billion in wasteful spending, including a National Institutes of Health grant to study \u201cRussian cats walking on a treadmill\u201d and \u201cBarbies used as proof of ID for receiving COVID Paycheck Protection Program funds.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>But the biggest source of waste is the most pressing to your bottom line.\u00a0The U.S. government paid out approximately $660 billion in interest on the national debt last year. It\u2019s insane in the membrane. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat total, which grew by 38 percent from $476 billion in 2022, was the largest amount ever spent on interest in the budget and totaled 2.4 percent of gross domestic product (GDP),\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pgpf.org\/budget-basics\/what-are-interest-costs-on-the-national-debt#:~:text=In%202023%2C%20the%20federal%20government,gross%20domestic%20product%20(GDP).\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Peter G. Peterson Foundation<\/a> reported, noting that interest costs \u201care on track to become the largest category of spending in the federal budget.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>That fact is equal parts stunning and pathetic. The federal government raked in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/statistics\/216928\/us-government-revenues-by-category\/#:~:text=In%202023%2C%20the%20total%20revenues,totaled%20420%20billion%20U.S.%20dollars.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$2.18 trillion<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/schumer-spokesman-celebrates-1-9-trillion-covid-relief-plan-erases-ny-budget-deficit\/\" title=\"Schumer Spokesman Celebrates: .9 Trillion COVID Relief Plan Erases NY Budget Deficit\">individual income taxes<\/a> in 2023. So 30 percent of that revenue went to debt service. In fact, debt service was more than the total $420 billion the government grabbed in corporate taxes last year. And no, that\u2019s not an endorsement for sticking it to the man, for our socialist zealots playing along at home. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4c6369be200d9583f6ce33fceaf1bcca fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-4c6369be200d9583f6ce33fceaf1bcca\"><\/div>\n<p>All that debt is taxing Americans again \u2014 in the form of higher interest payments on everything from home purchases to costs of operating small businesses.  <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Money For Nothing<\/h2>\n<p>But here\u2019s some of the really stupid stuff that\u2019s going into that out-of-control debt, according to FEE.\u00a0How about $6 million to boost Egyptian tourism? Yep. Admittedly, $6 million is but a drop in the ocean of debt, but really? Egyptian tourism?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe U.S. has spent over $100 million on Egyptian tourism so far,\u201d Paul\u2019s Festivus report notes. <\/p>\n<p>Big Brother also gets a big cut. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security\u2019s Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) used your tax dollars to train Department of Homeland Security employees to be their \u201cAuthentic and Best Selves.\u201d Yes, another quality diversity, equity, and inclusion indoctrination session brought to you by the wokists in the executive branch. The workshop introduced \u201ceffective strategies to build and sustain psychological safety that allows individuals to show up to work as their authentic and best selves.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIronically, the workshop coincided with CISA\u2019s efforts to suppress protected speech on social media platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d the senator notes in the report. \u201cEven I was censored at the behest of our government speech minders. And all while I thought I was being my best self.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Taxpayers also generously provided $38 million to people who can no longer pay taxes \u2014 because they\u2019re dead. Covid stimulus payments can only stimulate so much. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, $1.3 million of that money went to 30 individuals who had been dead for at least a year,\u201d Carroll wrote in the Fee article. <\/p>\n<p>Again, there\u2019s more. Much more. <\/p>\n<p>Sure, it\u2019s painful to consider just how badly your government is wasting your money. But is there a more appropriate time than Tax Day to look at the tab?<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the know-it-all accountant Oscar from \u201cThe Office\u201d put it best when he was scolding Regional Manager Michael Scott about his out-of-control personal spending. <a href=\"https:\/\/getyarn.io\/yarn-clip\/2cf8d3a3-c98e-4a25-9a82-35330d490752\">Pointing to a graph<\/a> on his laptop, Oscar says to Michael, \u201cAnd this scary black bar is things that no one ever, ever needs, like professional bass fishing equipment and multiple magic sets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Much like Michael, we can\u2019t publicly yell the words, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=C-m3RtoguAQ\">\u201cI declare bankruptcy!\u201d<\/a> to stop our government from throwing away our money. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cb7f74e5154dcec012b314267a1b3852 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cb7f74e5154dcec012b314267a1b3852\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Get ready for Tax Day 2024!
