Kirby&#8217;s remarks came after Iran&#8217;s military actions against Israel, addressing concerns about funds benefiting the\u200d Iranian regime.\u200b The debate \u200chighlighted differing perspectives \u200con the impact of \u200bsanctions relief on\u2064 Iran&#8217;s behavior and funding \u200callocation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>U.S. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby repeatedly defended President Joe Biden\u2019s decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/iran-has-made-80-billion-in-illicit-oil-sales-since-biden-took-office\/\">relax sanctions<\/a> enforcement against the Islamic Republic of Iran, which has helped the country earn tens of billions of dollars in oil revenue.<\/p>\n<p>Kirby made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Shannon Bream on Fox News after Iran launched 185 one-way suicide drones, 110 surface-to-surface missiles, and 36 cruise missiles at Israel.<\/p>\n<p>Bream asked, \u201cIs it not fair to say though there have been moves by this administration that have opened up cash and other opportunities for them, which we know are fungible in ways that are not helping the Iranian people, but are benefiting the elites and people there who chant \u2018Death to America\u2019 and \u2018Death to Israel\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kirby responded by claiming that it was former President Donald Trump who enacted \u201cthe sanctions relief program\u201d for Iran, even though Trump was known for enacting crippling sanctions on Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t go to the regime,\u201d Kirby said. \u201cAnd the idea that the regime was somehow felt like they were freed up to support these proxies because of that, it just doesn\u2019t comport with the facts. It\u2019s hard to take a look at what President Biden has done and say that we\u2019ve somehow gone soft on Iran. It was the previous administration that decided to get us out of the Iran deal.
