The attacker, a\u200d 40-year-old man, was shot dead by the police. The authorities do not suspect terrorism as the motive. The perpetrator, a 40-year-old man, \u200dwas fatally\u200d shot by law enforcement. Terrorism is not believed\u2062 to be the motivation. Seven others, including\u2062 a 9-month-old \u2062infant, sustained injuries and are being treated. The situation \u2064is contained, with no \u2063present danger.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Six people were killed in a stabbing attack at an Australian mall on Saturday that was stopped only after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/from-michael-brown-to-makhia-bryant-meet-the-lawyer-whose-false-claims-fueled-a-generation-of-black-lives-matter-violence\/\" title=\"From Michael Brown To Ma\u2019Khia Bryant: Meet The Lawyer Whose False Claims Fueled A Generation Of Black Lives Matter Violence\">police fatally shot<\/a> the attacker.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The attack, by an unidentified 40-year-old man, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2024\/04\/13\/world\/sydney-attack-mall-westfield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">took place<\/a> at 3:30 p.m local time at the Westfield Bondi Junction mall in Sydney and left five women and one man dead. Australian authorities say they do not believe the attack was motivated by terrorism though they have not yet released the suspect\u2019s name. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIf it is in fact the person that we believe it is, then we don\u2019t have fears for that person holding an ideation \u2014 in other words, it\u2019s not a terrorism incident,\u201d New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb said after the attack. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cLet me assure you that we are confident that there is no ongoing risk and we are dealing with one person who is now deceased.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At least seven other people, including a 9-month-old baby, were also injured in the attack and are currently at local hospitals receiving treatment. One video from the attack appeared to show a shopper <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.9news.com.au\/national\/bondi-junction-stabbing-update-video-emerges-of-shopper-confronting-armed-man-with-bollard-at-bondi-westfield\/864dd519-a468-4d74-b7ba-01dcaaee29af\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">attempt to confront<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  the attacker on the escalator with a mobile bollard. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The attacker was stopped after an officer chased him down and shot him after he turned back at her with the knife. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cShe confronted the offender who had moved by this stage to level five [of the mall] as she continued to walk quickly behind him to catch up with him. He turned, faced her, raised a knife. She discharged a firearm and that person is now deceased,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/suspect-among-six-dead-australian-stabbing-spree-shopping-center-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Cooke said police had\u00a0\u201cnothing that we are aware of at the scene that would indicate any motive or any ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt looked like he was on a killing spree,\u201d a witness said of the attacker, according to the New York Times. \u201cIf she [the officer] didn\u2019t shoot him, he would have kept going.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis was a horrific act of violence indiscriminately targeted at the innocent people going about an ordinary Saturday, doing their shopping,\u201d said Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who added that the officer who shot the attacker was a hero who saved lives. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">U.S. Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy expressed her sympathy for the victims in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USEmbAustralia\/status\/1779072485402742821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">post<\/a> on X after the attack. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are deeply saddened to hear of the events at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney today.
