But the numbers are significantly closer than earlier results, including closer than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/03\/02\/us\/politics\/biden-trump-times-siena-poll.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>February\u2019s poll<\/a>, which saw Trump leading by 5%.<\/p>\n<p>When asked who survey respondents would vote for in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vatican-offers-to-facilitate-negotiations-between-russia-and-ukraine\/\" title=\"Vatican Offers to \u2018Facilitate Negotiations\u2019 Between Russia and Ukraine\">wider context<\/a> that included third-party candidates, Trump had a 2% lead with 42% of the vote compared to Biden\u2019s 40%. <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rfk-jr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Robert F. Kennedy Jr. <\/a>was the candidate with the third highest vote with 2%, though 7% said they would not vote if those were the candidates on the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The close results come as both campaigns prepare for a tight election in <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>November<\/a>, which is expected to come down to a handful of swing states. <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/arizona\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Arizona<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nevada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Nevada<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pennsylvania\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Pennsylvania<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Michigan<\/a> are among the states that have played a major role in recent elections, and will also play an important role in 2024. <\/p>\n<p>The poll also found that more than half of respondents (69%) believe that Biden is \u201ctoo old\u201d to be an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-placeholder-president\/\" title=\"The Placeholder President\">effective president<\/a>, and 48% strongly concur. This is compared to just 41% of respondents believing Trump is too old to be effective, and just 21% strongly agree.
