Further investigations are ongoing since June due to email content encouraging the use of \u200bnon-governmental platforms. \u2062The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-white-house-told-meta-to-take-down-satire-and-true-information-emails-show\/\" title=\"Biden administration urges Meta to remove satire and 'true information,' emails reveal.\">released emails shed light<\/a> on the interactions regarding COVID origins.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Private research organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecohealthalliance.org\/2024\/04\/ecohealth-alliance-releases-emails-that-are-the-subject-of-false-allegations-in-the-press\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"EcoHealth Alliance\">EcoHealth Alliance<\/a> voluntarily released private emails on Friday confirming that the top aide to then-National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/anthony-fauci\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Anthony Fauci\">Anthony Fauci<\/a> used his personal Gmail account to conduct business regarding the origins of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The publication of the emails comes following a letter sent from the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic to former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nih\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"National Institutes of Health\">National Institutes of Health<\/a> employee Gerald Keusch regarding several of his email exchanges with Fauci\u2019s adviser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1111403\/house-gop-investigate-fauci-aide-for-using-private-email-to-avoid-covid-origins-scrutiny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"David Morens\">David Morens<\/a> and EcoHealth President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2450841\/head-of-ecohealth-alliance-to-be-questioned-in-house-covid-19-origins-inquiry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Peter Daszak\">Peter Daszak<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The publication of the emails is notable because it corroborates allegations by congressional Republicans that leading NIAID officials may have violated federal records statutes during the early stages of the pandemic. Morens had repeatedly <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/wenstrup-releases-takeaways-from-interview-with-dr-faucis-advisor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"denied\">denied<\/a> accusations that he forwarded government records to his personal email address to circumvent Freedom of Information Act requests and other oversight.<\/p>\n<p>An email <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecohealthalliance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Emails-02.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"published\">published<\/a> by EcoHealth dated April 26, 2020, and timestamped at 3:32 p.m. from Daszak to Morens highlights that he will \u201ccommunicate with [Morens] via gmail from now on,\u201d confirming that Morens requested to discuss COVID-19 on nongovernment platforms only.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand exactly what you\u2019re saying in your email, I agree, and we\u2019ll follow this line exactly,\u201d Daszak also told Morens.<\/p>\n<p>EcoHealth did not publish the email sent from Morens to Daszak that prompted this response.<\/p>\n<p>Morens has been under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2437841\/house-gop-subpoenas-nih-director-for-information-on-top-fauci-aide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"investigation\">investigation<\/a> by the subcommittee and the National Archives and Records Administration since June following the release of emails dated September 2021 from Morens\u2019s NIH account encouraging colleagues not to use government addresses to<strong> <\/strong>circumvent oversight of the agency. <\/p>\n<p>Morens also wrote in 2021 that he would \u201cdelete anything [he doesn\u2019t] want to see in the New York Times\u201d from his government accounts. <\/p>\n<p>The subcommittee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/2962374\/house-republicans-probe-secret-covid-emails-fauci-aide-boston-university-professor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"confirmed\">confirmed<\/a> for the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> on Thursday that they did not have the text of the emails between Morens, Keusch, and Daszak. The subcommittee did not respond to the <em>Washington Examiner\u2019s<\/em> request for comment by the time of publication. <\/p>\n<p>EcoHealth, a nonprofit organization that conducts virus research with the goal of preventing pandemics, has been under significant scrutiny since the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2, especially for its work at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.<\/p>\n<p>The emails <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecohealthalliance.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Emails-01.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"published\">published<\/a> by EcoHealth document that the grant \u201cUnderstanding the risk of bat coronavirus emergence\u201d was briefly terminated by the NIH due to biosecurity concerns and that Daszak was working with Morens and Keusch to reinstate the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContrary to the news reports, they show clearly that EcoHealth Alliance was appropriately communicating with senior staff at the NIH, or who formerly worked at NIH, to try to identify ways to reinstate a grant that had been terminated unexpectedly and arbitrarily, then suspended with onerous conditions,\u201d the spokesperson for EcoHealth wrote in a press release accompanying the emails. <\/p>\n<p>Daszak wrote to Morens and Keusch in the April 2020 email stream that the heightened public scrutiny of his organization was \u201ca brutally stressful issue on just about every level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are being targeted by extremists, supported by the President [Donald Trump], who is shockingly ignorant and unconcerned about the damage his actions have to people\u2019s lives and our own US National Security,\u201d Daszak wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Daszak is scheduled to testify in a public hearing before the subcommittee on May 1. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>EcoHealth Alliance released private emails confirming Fauci&#8217;s aide used personal Gmail for COVID business.
