The debate was featured\u200c on Fox News&#8217;s Hannity. Stephen A. Smith, the ESPN personality and host of First\u2062 Take, \u2063expressed \u200dhis belief that O.J. Simpson \u200cwould \u200dhave \u2063received a more severe punishment\u200b if Smith had been on the\u200b jury for Simpson&#8217;s 1995 murder\u2064 trial. Smith highlighted Simpson&#8217;s guilt and the strong evidence against \u2063him, advocating for a significant\u2062 penalty, potentially life imprisonment. This discussion took place\u200b on Fox News&#8217;s Hannity.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ESPN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ESPN<\/a> personality and <em>First Take<\/em> host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/sports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephen A. Smith<\/a> declared that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/oj-simpson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>O.J. Simpson<\/a> would have been under the jail if he had been on the jury of Simpson\u2019s 1995 murder trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe would have been under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>jail<\/a>. He wouldn\u2019t have got off, not if I was on that jury. There\u2019s no question about it,\u201d Smith said on Fox News\u2019s <em>Hannity<\/em> Thursday. \u201cI mean, he was guilty as hell. The forensic evidence, the circumstantial evidence, and the manner in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/murder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>murders<\/a> took place, it was clearly a crime of passion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at some of the things that they had articulated about his past, his relationship with Nicole Brown Simpson, some of the things that he had done to her, the Gloria Allreds and others obviously have spoken very eloquently about this over the years \u2026 it was clear that it was such a preponderance of evidence against him that he deserved to be in jail for the rest of his life at the very least.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the preponderance of evidence against the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/NFL\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>NFL<\/a> star, Smith was neither surprised when the verdict came down and when jurors started confessing their reasons years later, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the aftermath of the Rodney King situation in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Los-Angeles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Los Angeles<\/a>, the history of brutality on the part of some police officers when it came to the LAPD against residents of LA that happened to be African Americans, you knew it was one of those situations where it wasn\u2019t about O.J.\u2019s innocence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>People of the time wanted to indict the LAPD, and that is the ultimate reason why O.J. got off, according to Smith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe got off for two reasons,\u201d he said. \u201cNumber one, to indict the LAPD, and, number two, because Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, two people we don\u2019t talk about enough, did an absolutely horrendous job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 30 years later, the failure of the prosecutors remains in the minds of many, Smith said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t ask this man months later to try on a glove,\u201d he said. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t take his medication, his hands and fingers swell, it wasn\u2019t going to fit, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-derek-chauvin-trial-coverage-to-ninth-day\/\" title=\"The Derek Chauvin Trial \u2013 Coverage to Ninth Day\">kinda knew<\/a> it, and, ultimately, it was depicted in a series, if I remember correctly, where Johnnie Cochran had coaxed Christopher Darden to go against the wishes of Marcia Clark and convince him to force him to force O.J. to try and try on the glove.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce folks saw that it wasn\u2019t going to fit, it was exactly the nugget that he needed to ultimately say, \u2018If it doesn\u2019t fit, you must acquit,\u2019 and, ultimately, get O.J.
