The Wisconsin Elections \u200dCommission\u2064 found the\u200c petition invalid, citing\u200c the need for\u200b valid signatures from the correct\u200d districts. The controversy highlights ongoing issues with Wisconsin&#8217;s \u2062legislative maps.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The effort to recall Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/wisconsin-elections-commission-vos-recall-attempt-falls-short\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>failed<\/a>, but another attempt from the same group is on the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin Elections Commission confirmed Wednesday that the pro-Trump group\u2019s efforts to recall the Republican leader failed after the group did not gather enough signatures from Vos\u2019s district to issue a recall election. Vos challenged the validity of the signatures, even finding his own on the recall attempt, because the group used previous legislative maps to gather signatures. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot enough valid signatures were submitted from either old AD 63 or new AD 33 for the petition to be valid, and because Representative Vos was neither elected to new AD 66 nor lives within the territory of that district, staff do not believe that this petition could cause a recall election against representative Vos to be held regarding that territory,\u201d WEC attorney Brandon Hunzicker wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin\u2019s previous legislative maps were struck down by the Wisconsin Supreme Court for not being contiguous and were considered by many to be some of the most <a href=\"https:\/\/gerrymander.princeton.edu\/redistricting-report-card\/?planId=recAW6q19I516nHpc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gerrymandered<\/a> maps in the country and heavily in favor of Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>The Wisconsin Elections Commission asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court which maps should be used in recall decisions, as a certain number of signatures are needed from the district in which the person being recalled resides. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/almost-certainly-illegal-washington-post-editorial-board-slams-biden-eviction-moratorium\/\" title=\"\u2018Almost Certainly Illegal\u2019: Washington Post Editorial Board Slams Biden Eviction Moratorium\">high court declined<\/a> to say which maps should be used for recall attempts or special elections. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn December 22, 2023, we enjoined the \u2018Elections Commission from using [the prior] legislative maps in all future elections\u2019 because the maps violated the Wisconsin Constitution,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-will-hear-boston-marathon-bomber-execution-case\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Will Hear Boston Marathon Bomber Execution Case\">court wrote<\/a>. \u201cBased on the submissions before us, we decline to further clarify or amend the opinion and order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, the Wisconsin Elections Commission found that no matter which <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wisconsin-assembly-recall-speaker-trump-vos-826350a3aaff12e9c290b50ea7f8ca30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>map was used<\/a>, the recall efforts did not gather enough valid signatures.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Snorek, who spearheaded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-elder-statesman-conservative-icon-mulling-2024-presidential-run\/\" title=\"The Elder Statesman? Whack jobs and morons,\u201d he said.
