(George County Sheriff\u2019s Department via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to die,\u201d Dearman told CNN in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/11\/us\/alabama-death-row-inmate-execution-appeals\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>interview<\/a> from prison. \u201cBut I feel it in my heart that this is the only option that would help the victims\u2019 families get the closure they need to move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After dropping his appeal, he said it was time for \u201cjustice to be delivered\u201d and that executing him is \u201cthe right thing to do.\u201d He said he has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/israeli-military-officials-unite-in-opposition-to-biden-admins-iran-deal\/\" title=\"Israeli Military Officials Unite in Opposition to Biden Admin\u2019s Iran Deal\">made peace<\/a> with his decision.<\/p>\n<p>Dearman used an ax, a .45 pistol, and a shotgun to kill Shannon Randall, Robert Brown, Justin Reed, Joseph Turner, and Chelsea Reed, who was five months pregnant. He knew his victims before the Aug. 20, 2016, attack.<\/p>\n<p>Three days before the murders, Dearman was at the Citronelle home to help scrap a metal trailer. His behavior reportedly made Randall uncomfortable, prompting her to say she didn\u2019t want him staying \u201cin the same home as her infant\u201d but that he could still work at the house.<\/p>\n<p>After returning to a home he shared with his girlfriend, he injected methamphetamine and became abusive toward her, according to court records. Dearman\u2019s girlfriend fled to the house in Citronelle the next day.<\/p>\n<p>Dearman went back to the Citronelle home four times in the same day, demanding to speak to his girlfriend, leading Randall\u2019s husband, Turner, to call authorities. <\/p>\n<p>When police left, Dearman returned to the house on foot. He broke into the home, woke up his sleeping girlfriend, and spoke with her outside. He then returned to the house with an ax and slashed Turner and Randall, who were sleeping in bed with their infant son, whom he did not kill.<\/p>\n<p>Dearman then pried a .45 pistol from the hands of one of his victims and shot him.
