The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/committee-to-protect-journalists-post-pandemic-world-sees-authoritarian-boom\/\" title=\"Committee to Protect Journalists: Post-Pandemic World Sees Authoritarian Boom\">organization highlighted<\/a> various causes of pollution \u200cand\u2063 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/californians-receiving-unemployment-must-start-looking-for-work-next-month-to-remain-eligible\/\" title=\"Californians Receiving Unemployment Must Start Looking For Work Next Month To Remain Eligible\">potential health risks<\/a>\u200c for \u200dathletes.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Olympic swimmers are getting a warning to beware of the dangerous bacteria in the water of a river in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/paris\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Paris\">Paris<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/france\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Paris\">France<\/a>, where the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games water games are planned to be set.<\/p>\n<p>The Surfrider Foundation Europe, a grassroots environmental water protection organization, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/surfridereurope\/posts\/pfbid0HcF5UsRTJmymbGfvVqkGrFvfDDmJzzpbNdqNWt1sybT4hzG22Au3ywYN4AnDoeLRl?locale=en_GB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"performed\">performed<\/a> 14 tests of the Seine River between September 2023 and March 2024 and found \u201calarming levels of bacteriological <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pollution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"pollution\">pollution<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One sample was located near the Alexandra III bridge, which is a planned starting point for Olympic swimmers, and showed poor water quality and pollution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are many causes for this pollution, ranging from rainfall to malfunctions in the sewage system, including poorly connected barges and animal waste,\u201d the organization warned in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/idaho-senate-passes-bill-could-be-1st-state-banning-critical-race-theory-in-schools\/\" title=\"Idaho Senate Passes Bill, Could Be 1st State Banning Critical Race Theory In Schools\">foundation added<\/a>, \u201cThe consequences of this pollution on health are serious, ranging from common infections such as otitis and conjunctivitis to more severe infections such as staphylococcus. France<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Seine is a 483-mile river in northern France, running along the Paris region and into the English Channel at Le Havre.<\/p>\n<p>Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo claims they have made strides in cleaning up the river and spent close to $1.5 billion in upgrading stormwater treatment and sewage facilities.<\/p>\n<p>In March, Mayor Hidalgo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/paris-mayor-makes-plans-june-183330029.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"doubled down\">doubled down<\/a> in vowing to swim in the river herself and invited French President Emmanuel Macron to join her in marking \u201cthis major breakthrough\u201d in the river cleanup efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The organization urged Olympic organizers to \u201ctake urgent action\u201d to ensure safe and healthy conditions for the games.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, will Paris be the city of Olympic and Paralympic dreams or the city of health nightmares?\u201d Surfrider Foundation Europe asked.<\/p>\n<p>Former EPA official Steve Milloy <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JunkScience\/status\/1777687257916260787\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"remarked\">remarked<\/a> on social media, \u201cSummer Olympics in Paris shaping up to be quite the green disaster: 1. No air conditioning in athlete dorms. 2.
