The law, dating back to Arizona&#8217;s pre-statehood, recently faced legal challenges and was ruled as enforceable by the court. Trump also commented on Florida&#8217;s abortion law, hinting at potential changes based \u200bon state \u2063preferences.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he believes Arizona\u2019s abortion law goes too far after the state\u2019s Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/arizona-supreme-court-upholds-1864-law-protecting-unborn-babies-from-abortion-in-nearly-all-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ruled<\/a> that a 160-year-old ban on nearly all abortions can go into effect.<\/p>\n<p>The law, which was passed before Arizona was a state in 1864, came before the state\u2019s highest court after an appeals court ruled in December 2022 that doctors could not be prosecuted under the abortion ban even though the law mandates that anyone who aids an abortion, except in the case of saving the mother\u2019s life, be punished by two to five years in prison, AZ Central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/arizona\/2024\/04\/09\/arizona-abortion-law-state-supreme-court-upholds-near-total-ban\/73251148007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. In a 4-2 ruling on Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court said the 1864 law is \u201cis now enforceable\u201d and can take effect in 14 days pending any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/former-trump-employee-flips-on-him-theres-real-danger-for-trump-here\/\" title=\"Ex-Trump staffer turns against him, posing a serious threat.\">additional legal challenges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid Arizona go too far?\u201d a reporter asked Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, they did. This is what I\u2019ve been saying. It\u2019s a perfect system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo for 52 years, people have been wanting to end <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> to get it back to the states. We did that. It was an incredible achievement,\u201d the Republican presidential candidate added. \u201cAnd now the states have it, and the states are putting out what they want. It\u2019s the will of the people. So Florida is probably going to change; Arizona is definitely going to change. In his statement, the former president said he was proud of being responsible for the end of <em>Roe v. In this case, the law of the state,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day, this is about the will of the people,\u201d Trump continued, adding, \u201cYou must follow your heart on this issue, but remember: you must also win elections to restore our culture and, in fact, to save our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also said that he supports abortion exceptions for rape and incest, which are not included in the 1864 Arizona abortion law.<\/p>\n<p>Some Republicans and pro-life advocates disagree on the Arizona law that is set to go into effect just months before the 2024 election. Pro-life groups such as LiveAction and Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser celebrated the Arizona Supreme Court\u2019s decision while Arizona Republican Senate candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KariLake\/status\/1777763769890071022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kari Lake<\/a>, along with Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepDavid\/status\/1777778129483780533\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Schweikert (R-AZ)<\/a>, who are both running in tight races, said they oppose Tuesday\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, who are seeking to push abortion into the spotlight and make it a main issue in the election, attempted to connect the Arizona law to Trump\u2019s policies.
